Just wondering but is anyone's car not rust proofed and still intact? My 88 does not have any rust proofing and no rust (no hole plugs from rust proofing are anywhere on the car) as it came from California. Apparently cars don't rust there;).
Mine has no rust proofing or rust :D
My car is originally from somewhere in Florida , I'm not sure how long it has been in Tennessee.
No rust proofing on my 82 Cougar or 86 Tbird....no rust either. There is some kind of paint underneath but no black rustproofing materia.
I have the ol' Ziebart treatment on the '84. Apparently it was done when new...plugs everywhere LOL. But for Ohio, the amount of rust is almost zilch, which means either a) Ziebart worked, b) this car was garaged for the majority of its life, or c) both. It's pretty clean for being a daily workhorse for two decades.
im not sure but i havent found any evidence of rust proofing on the bird. nor do i have any conciderable rust. (just surface rust i have)
Mine's got the plugs but never appears to have had any coating under it...
Mine had some sort of rust protection back in the 90s, no idea what it was exactly. It's held up well for the most part. The only major issues I've had with rust is the gas tank strap support rusted through on one side. Looked perfectly fine on the other side.
Oh yeah, I just remembered all that surface rust on my hood :D
No coating,no rust.
Mine was rust proofed new, and garaged all it's life. Still trying to figure out what went wrong there. :punchballs:
same here, no coating except for maybe the red 88 but no rust at all...
what happened to the guarantee?? :deal:
Was only good for the original owner.
ahhh ...
Oh yea, it was also Rusty Jones that went bankrupt in 88
My brother's truck had rustproofing by them. I can see through the floor pans, and his door frames are more rust than frame.
yep...Rusty Jones

Ziebart hasn't stopped the rocker rot on the 95. Then again I think MN-12s came from the factory with rocker rot:hick:
Wasn't that the py recycled metal era
my red 86 was sure sealed, no rust on it but by the rear window. i wonder what it looks like now.
the other 86 wasnt rustproofed (from what i could tell) but nothing worth mentioning on it either.
what plugs are you guys talking about, the only plugs i remember seeing are body plugs.
anyone have a pic of them?
Sorry, all my plugs rusted off the car with the panels.
I think so. When ever I see a fox at the yard it will have rot but not near as bad as the MN-12s. The odd thing is most of the MN-12s are newer than the fox cars....
Aren't ALL the MN-12's newer than the Fox cars?:poke:
Yeah good point:dunce:
I should have said from the 90s. Most Mn-12s are from the 90s, except for the 89s;)
No coating, no rust
I have no rust or coatings. And why I have no clue.
Dono about coating... I don't think I do, but I have found no rust anywhere on or under the car other than minor surface rust and a little in the windshield pillars.
One of the few good things about fl
I've heard that if you shoot rustproofing into doors and rockers, you plug the weep holes and it holds more water in the panels. No coating would mean that the moisture can escape easily, and air can circulate to dry it out. Kinda sounds like a good theory to me. Not sure if it's the reason though.
Underside of my car and the doors are good. Lots of small spots starting to rust on the roof and body panels though. Couple of our trouble spots I have avoided looking at... No rust proofing either.
Under side sure is bent up. Looks like someone took the car curb hopping.
-what is this "rust" you speak of???? :hick:
I've never seen any personally on my 88 but I have seen it on cars in the yard. It's this brown stuff that eats sheet metal:hick:.
The great and powerful eater and destroyer of foxes all over the know world:flip:
