Title: How to remove an automatic belt tensioner?

on a 88 v6?

do you just remove the bolt at the base of the tensioner?

there should be a bolt on the backside of the tensioner assembly

Just an FYI the pulley bolt is usually left handed thread .
 The  one on the back is normal though.

just curious, why are you removing it? At the junkyard they charge the same for the whole bracket, or just the pulley. Are you upgrading it somehow?

pulled off my ac compressor, don't want the big ugly now useless tensioner

Idk about 5.0's but the 88 3.8 has two serpintine belts. one for ac compressor and one for everything else, I don't need the ac belt or tensioner anymore, so I want it out

got it off today...

Ther was no bolt at the back, just at the base..I figured that was it but wasn't sure cause It didn't seem to wasnt to move, I fugured it was part of the puley, but it was just really tight.
