Since I bought my car I wanted a Turbo coupe hood , well after being here on this site I realized that this site did not need another non Turbo car with a TC hood , and I like to be different . :hick:
So with a special thanks to Justin (jandmmustangs) for finding this for me .
I proudly introduce my new hood treatment. its from an 83 Fox Mustang and it's painted with textured satin black paint as a homage to the Boss Mustangs of 69/70
I really like it , but feel free to express any opinion you have :D
Hard to say.....get it out in the sun and let's see it. Scoops on these cars are often a task that's harder to pull off than the Stang guys. Our cars are a lot pickier in the looks department. Again,I need to see some pics outside to get the true "feel" of it.
I like the hood without the scoop
Will do tomorrow I just bolted it on about 20 minutes ago and its dark outside :D
I agree it is hard to find a scoop that looks OK
But IMO I dig the 83 Fox scoop because it tapers at roughly the same angle as our hood ,
I actually tried an 82 Stang scoop but it didnt flow well with the lines on the car
I should also mention that I am not a fan of cowl scoops on anything other than an early (67-69)Camaro or 70-72 Chevelle so that limited my choices even further .
JMHO, I think it would look better in gloss black.
Either paint the scoop to match the hood or maybe flat black the center of the hood ??
I like it.
Can we get pics of it outside? I bet it looks even better!
whats the width on that scoop?
To me, the lines of these cars are perfect, and anything that sticks out, or protrudes from the body, only leads to distract from that.
Not everyone shares my feelings on the matter, though :hick:
Sorry but I vote no.
TED
Screw the haters...looks great!
Its 22 inches across the front and it tapers up to 27 inches at the rear
Here are some daylight pics ,I think it looks better outside
one thing
I kinda agree on the gloss black probably looking good but, as I am seriously lacking in the autobody skill dept and the scoop was kinda rough.....
the textured paint hides my incompetence :hick:
k thx.. I need 26" wide top and bottom. I don't think it looks bad btw hell if it was wider I'd be sporting one too ;)
2 more taken with my other camera ;)
I like it man. Although I do agree that painting it gloss black would look a little bit better. Awesome otherwise!
I like it now that I can see it better. It's different but not out of place.
I also agree that it looks good.... for me thou, I may have mounted it about 3 inches more away from the windshield...
I wanted to put it over the intake manifold that why it is mounted where it is ..of course on a non functional scoop i have no reasonable explanation as to why .:hick:
I can see where you are coming from though , and it would look good a little father forward also. ;)
I couldn't tell in the picture that it's functional.... how big of a hole did you cut in the hood?
Its not functional , Sorry if I was unclear... I was thinking in terms of a functional scoop when I installed it . That was how I decided location
Go ahead and make it functional... anything you can do to lower under hood temps is a good thing... :D
I may at paint job time ;)
Looks good man. I couldnt quite picture it in my head when we talked about it, but i think it really works.
Looks way better than the miserable teenage looking Cervini Stormin Norman hood I have on my 93 Stang.:mullet:
Different doesn't always work, but in this case I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Looks awesome, dude :)
it dose set your car apart, just from having it
I like the looks of it.
I think the color definitely needs to be the same as the rest of the hood. I don't hate it but, the eye keeps seeing the satin black on the gloss black.
What may make the difference is as Jerry said. If you plan on painting the car something more '69/70 ish, say red or blue, then I think the black scoop will work more, but black on black is not working for me. I know a guy who has a '96 black Mustang GT, and he added the satin black stripes over the top, and they stick out like a sore thumb, But to each their own. (I'm using a Mach 1 hood, myself)
I always say, dare to be different as well.
That's it. The black on black, rather then a black on color, is the eye catcher.
Thanks for the input everyone .
If I had Jerry's body work skills it would definitely be gloss black.:D
It does actually match the door mirrors really well now though.
For now I'm going to leave it be
Hey try turning the scoop around forward and take some more shots of it so we can see what it would look like. I have a scoop like that and I plan on putting it on my Cougar but facing forward.
I have to say... I think that would be a very bad idea. The scoop tapers in width, would be opposite of the hood taper. :flame:
That is the scoop I was wondering how would look on these cars. Thanks for the pics, I wonder what gloss black and slid a few inches forward would look like?

I'd like to know that too :hick:
If I were to do it over I might move it forward, But I do like the way it looks overall .
I think this looks better than 95% of bolt on scoops, but im still of the thought to avoid scoops unless you have to have them for clearance reasons.
The lines of our cars are "sleeker" than stangs, but they still taper in similar ways, and the scoop looks great backwards on fox stangs, so give it a shot if you can.
Either way, bravo on trying something different that came out pretty good.
I like it, I planned on izing some New Yorker turbo fins for my Turbo Cougar
