Title: Question on 1995 Ford Ranger 2.3
Post by: V8Demon on July 15, 2010, 04:39:08 AM
I have a question concerning a 1995 Frod Ranger 2WD with the EDIS 2.3.  My question is whether or not the vehicle should have an ignition control module or if it is incorporated into the PCM itself.

I'm receiving conflicting information concerning this.  Rockauto lists that the engine should have a separate module up to the 1997 model year.  Other sources state that the EEC-V equipped trucks do not have it and the last year for it was 1994.

Can anyone confirm?

According to Mitchell OnDemand it's integrated into the PCM

straight out of the ford manual :
During basic operation, the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) determines the ignition timing required by the engine (6007) and determines which ignition coil (12029) to use.

that would make me believe its integral to the pcm.

Have you checked out http://www.therangerstation.com (http://"http://www.therangerstation.com")? They have a lot of technical info on Rangers and some of it was very helpful with me working on my Bird.

Yes.  Some of the contradictions actually occurred on that site?
After futher research and actually looking at the vehicle in question; it appears as though it's all integrated.

Thanks  ;)
