Title: Digital Dash Question
Post by: ShowBoy on July 08, 2010, 11:12:03 PM
Just so that I'm absolutely sure, when did the digital dash first show up in the Cougar?

I've read about it on wikipedia, but I thought I'd ask the experts.

Thanks.

Ughhh...some things from the 80's should be forgotten. Hair like Nikki Sixx had in 1987, some of that horrible music...and those shiznitty, burn up all the time digi dashes, lol

I don't need a little green screen telling me how many farts per big mac I'm getting, lmao

Thanks ---- though I didn't phrase my question correctly.

Of these four years ---- '83, '84, '85, '86 ---- on which ones were they available?

Them wiki people seem to suggest that it began in '85 ---- meaning that they were NOT available on the '83s and '84s ---- but that doesn't sound correct to me ---- is it?

Digital speedo's were in the 83-84 cars. Full digital with all the gauges was 85-88.

I had a digital dash in my '86 Cougar.

I just wish I still had that car.

My '89 Fleetwood and my '89 Continental have digital dashes.

Oh yeah 1980 was the first year of digital dashes for the Birds and Cats. When they were redesigned in 1983, they carried over the basic cluster design into the 1983-84 cars. There was no budget then to do an all new dash for the aero cars so the old dashes were carried over with a few modifications to freshen it up.

Wiki people are bad about getting facts exact.

I love the old digital dashes. If I was able to use the original dash I feel certain that I would have converted it over to all digital. With the Mustang dash I am working with now it was better for me to use what fits it exactly. However, most of you know I tried a 1980 digital dash cluster for a while mounted in the Mustang dash. I just wanted it to look more like factory fit and function and also have the extra gauges, so I went with the Mustang cluster.
