This car is local to me...if anyone is interested I can pop in and inspect. From all indications it's the real bargain here. No rear defroster is kind of uncommon. I also have the correct console lid to replace the cracked one. ;)
I bet no matter what kind of fox cougar it turned out to be you "have the correct console lid to replace the cracked one" ;) :p
Well...sort of. I don't have the hugest collection of parts but I do have quite a lot of the right parts. ;)
You are probably right ---- though he needs to take better aim when unlocking the trunk.
There are key scratches around the lock.
I know -------------- I'm picky, picky.
There was a 1988 Black XR7 with 33k miles for $4500 on the Chicago craigslist. It expired though.
There is also a mint 1988 White XR7 in Chico for $4100, not sure of the miles though.
Alright, I stopped in and looked at the black '84 today. Not worth it. Lots of rust bubbles in the usual spots...bad, wavy black repaint...bumper paint is original and cracked...some fading of paint. Exterior is not that nice. Interior is beautiful though; all it needs is the aforementioned console lid. Strange car: no delay wipers, no rear defrost, no cruise control, no power door locks, no power seats...but has power windows, power mirrors, and the semi-rare 1984-only package with the chrome rocker moldings on a GS (that was only available to LS models in 1985-86). I'd give maybe a grand for it tops, knowing that it would need serious bodywork and a repaint. Just FYI, buyer beware.
