Thanks for hooking me up Watchdevil.
Dude, if you want to salvage the use your existing speaker grilles and have the metal retainer clips that slide onto the locations of the broken tabs, do try some JB Weld or similar brand putty epoxy for plastic. That stuff works miracles. Knead up the putty, apply just enough to the locations of where the tabs broke from so that you can sink the bottom of the retainer clips onto the epoxy. Let it fully cure and you have a strong plastic bond.
I did this same thing to a cracked headlamp retainer bracket and also a clip on the knee panel that broke away from the plastic post on the back of the panel and it did the job. This stuff is chemically plastic that forms into place, bonds to existing plastic, then hardens.
Thanks WatchDevil. I tried what you said about the JB Weld and it worked like a charm. There were multiple fractures in the tabs, so I didn't think epoxy would work, but it actually worked well.
Thanks again for the recommendation. My covers are good as new. Problem solved.
So glad to hear this worked out perfectly well for you!
