Title: 88thunderbird
Post by: zerokool on June 21, 2010, 07:38:28 PM
88tbird lx with 119k on it. 5.0 auto trans. everything but the ac and low oil gauge works. it's just the wire that came off on the oil pan. it has a new radiator, alternator, and water pump. the downsides, has some small dents here and there and has an oil leak that i can never figure out where it's coming from (not from heads or valve covers) that leaks on the exhaust. I'm open to any offers. lakenheath24 can vouch for the car as he did a ton of work on it before i bought it from him. I'm just in need of some cash. my zip is 32580

Why selling so cheap???

If you still have it when I get my bonus check, I may be interested...but who knows when that's going to happen.

Good luck,

I think people are scared of the oil leak. I've been trying to sell it for awhile and it's not getting sold. I'm taking a bad hit on it too. I paid 1300. I just need the money and no ones buyin so I gotta keep droppin it low hopping someone does. It's by the road with a for sale sign and been posted and reposted on craigslist :(

I wouldn't think that a 302 leaking would bother anyone that has owned one. I don't think I've ever had one that didn't leak at least a drop or two a day.

The 5.0 is fairly easy to work on too. I could change out the head gaskets on my 5.0 Mustang in less than 7 hours... And that included removing and re-installing the blower. Well, it did take me 13 hours the first time.

fyi, it's not the heads or head gaskets leaking. It amazes me how much money people ask for a fox mustang, but I can't get anyone to buy my foxbird for next to nothing

THIS is exactly what I was thinking.. FYI - this bird is clean.. I sold my 88 mustang GT that was beat to shiznit for $1,300.. and that was giving him a SICK deal on the car since it had a bunch of new shiznit in it, including a new transmission.

haha well I've had a lot of people call and stop by but no one really interested. I figured at least some mustang guy would have c00ched it up for somethin. There's yet another person coming by the house here in a little bit to look at it. Not holding my breath on this one either...

hahaha stuff happens right? Well the guy, kid actually, said he'd call soon to get directions how to get to my place. It's been an hour and a half. So guess not. Has anyone looked into getting the car shipped? I hear it's pretty reasonable when you ship from at least a semi major city to another

That's about an hour west of me. It's 625 from my place to IL. Way worth not having to pay for gas out there and back. Just stabbin in the dark here if anyones interested. I'm only askin 675 for the car right now.......

I just realized I had a buddy in pensocola that was thinking about driving from there to here and ended up spending $500 on a plane ticket instead. Wish I would have remembered this car.

Salt lake city Utah. My friend is in the marines and is here for two weeks on leave and then is going to Arizona. I did not have money saved up or anything for it, but I wouldn't mind another bird. Good luck with your sale.

man, sorry to hear the bad luck.  Maybe take the smoking/leaking part out of the ad?  I am gone next week, but bring it by sometime and we will try to diagnose it.  Have you had it on a rack?  Oil pan maybe? I put a new rear main in it, but thats not to say i glued it all back just right.

Yea I had it up there. Can't tell where it's coming from. It's like some magical oil leak. I would take it out of the ad if the car didn't smoke after it's warmed up. Whatever it is, it's only leaking when it's running

I had the rubber grommet on the back of the lower intake that holds the PCV valve pop out.  Oil would run down the block and drip on the exhaust, especially after shutting it off. Just a suggestion.

I had read about that on a stang forum. I shoved my hand back there and didn't feel anything, and you can't really see what's goin on back there by the firewall. So not really sure about that either. That's what I thought it was
