Post by: amooset on May 01, 2005, 07:02:08 PM
Just curious if there's anyone into guitars.  Pics of your rig would be cool if you got any.

Fender Jazz, tobacco sunburst, Mexican.
Yamaha FX-310 electric accoustic.

And an old Fender F-03 accoustic I'm rebuilding to string left so I can teach the wife.

OldRaven:

Did you put Strat s on your Mexican bass? Me likes. Reminds me of Muddy Waters' Telecaster.

I dont really play, but I did just get a new guitar. I have never taken any lessons, and the most I know is what I look up on the internet. Which prolly isnt very good, But it is fun. I will find some pics....

Nope. That's how she came. I got it as a graduation gift in '97. The guitar I bought as an excuse to go to town without the wife. I was actually picking up a ring, but had to come home with something. ;)

Did you get the bass new or used?
Those are Strat s, and I've never seen a Fender bass with 'em before.

Brand new. And my brothers black US Strat came with white s, brand new.

Like I said, I've never seen a Fender Mexican bass with Strat s on it. I'm thinking those were swapped out some time after it left the factory.

Edit: After looking around on eBay, I found another with those s. Very odd..

Is it a standard American? What color is the pickguard?

Standard American Strat, with a white pick guard. And might I say, the smoothest, most ergonomic electric I've ever played.

I've played a few Mexicans, but I once played a Korean Ash Tele... wow. I wish I had the $600 to buy it. It had the birds-eye maple fretboard and everything.

Have you ever played an Gibson SG. I have one form the early '90's. I'd say it's just as smooth and ergonomic as the Strat I had, plus it gives easier access to the higher frets. I also have a Les Paul. I perfer the sound of the Les Paul but I'd rather play the SG. They have the same pickups but they do sound different.

I also have a Yamaha accoustic. I sold the Gibson Ripper base and the Peavey TNT115 amp. I also sold my Traynor Mark III tube amp.

I've been playing for about 10 years I guess.  Longer if you count air guitaring...  If you're interested in hearing me, check out this little clip of me playing the Randy Rhoads spotlight solo from the tribute album.

Have you ever had a lesson?  That's impressive if you haven't.  If you have, well, you're still pretty good  :giggle: I've been playing for about 5 and it seems I've hit a wall in my learning capacity.
