bought this 86' and had to go into surgery the next day.....wife got the buffer out and lost 2 dress sizes! check it out
:bowdown:she did a great job for me...and getting it running has been a big c...thanks guys...this forum has been a big help
Nicely done! That's a pretty uncommon, 1-year-only color (Wine). Cleans up great, congrats! Better buy the wife something nice. ;)
+1 (I was gonna ask about that color)
ah-ha... I think I may have finally found the color of my guitar. I used a tbird/cougar color, but couldn't remember the color or year...
It's really more wine/purple then the pic shows

Thats a fairly impressive before and after difference.
Nice looking car!
I agree !! How long did it take her to do all of that?
Wow, that's nice! I've never seen that color before. How's the interior?
now thats what i call love!!:hick: the way to us guys hearts are are rides:burnout:
wow, these posts add up quick! Took about 6-8 hours with the buffer. I have to go over it again after a few washes to get the rest back. The interior is in good shape. apparently the guy who ordered the car was colorblind though...the car is that wine color with the blue, black and gray Turbo coupe interior. Between her buffing skills and the help from the kids she has turned out nice. Just picked up a set of snowflake wheels so they will be on soon. Thanks for the feedback guys.
Hmmm. maybe its not original factory paint.
yeah, its factory....same color under the trim and on the firewall. I havent seen another one that color, but the coolcats site shows the color option.
I love that color, back in '86 my aunt had a brand new Bostonian Cougar that color
was going to have the car painted black this winter, but now after finding out how rare it is......guess i may have it shot again with the same color. really wanted black though.....but cant kill a rare color. My first car was a 69' Dart GT and i hated the green color....but the car was 100% original with 42K on it......Didnt have the heart to change the color.....this one may be the same.
Is that an elan edition? If so, I think that was the equivalent to a Cougar XR7, interior-wise. I'm not sure about the seats being original but it's possible.
Cleaned up, that color is just gorgeous. We had a few cars with that color at one of our past shows:

Whoa that came out nice, she did a great job.
yes it is an elan. I think it has to be the original seats because the guy i bought it from ordered the car from the factory.....and the dash and seats match...along with door panels. This is a 100% original car....until i had to all the work to get it running.
oh yeah, and im putting the set of snowflakes i bought on this weekend....just have to finish painting them.
Can you put up some interior pics?
I have never seen an elan with sport seats and I would like to :D
yeah,i can snap some pics tomorrow. I didnt know there was a difference (sport..ect...) Just thought color options? I Like to see pics of a "regular" interior to compare. I am going to the local JY this weekend to get some extra ignition modules and a few little things so i will be looking at the other options available for these things.
take a peek at this page..
(i know its cougars but , hey what can ya do )

just looked at that link.....I am guessing i have the sport seats....they are 2 tone blue and gray...all electric...32,000 adjustments....and the rest of the car is all power. I have a console between the seats unlike the one pictured witha fold down center arm rest. But i will snap some pics
Groovy :D
here are the seats
