Title: Fairmont Spring Recomendations?
Post by: nitroracer on April 28, 2005, 10:16:59 PM
It looks like the 80' zephyr will be seeing some more time on the road now that the transmission in my dad's truck died and new springs and struts will be in order since the ones in the car are originals.  Currently I have some 10-holes with large tires that hit the passenger side fender on tight turns and the entire car is sitting low from age and the heavy I6 on I4 springs up front.  According to some research an 80' fairmont should weigh 2700lbs, but using mustang springs causes the back to sit low like on t-birds and cougars.  Any spring suggestions for a daily driver?

Never did any spring swappin' in the old Zephs/Monts, but I would think Stang stuff would be OK up front. Or maybe Turbo Coupe front springs/struts('86 earlier, just make sure the width is correct on the lower strut mount).  For the rear, stock late model Stang convertable springs should do it. I would think any Tbird spring would make the rear too high..
