Title: painting mirror housings body color
Post by: Beau on April 28, 2005, 01:39:36 PM
title says it all, anybody ever did it, and how did it turn out?
I'm trying to get more or less all of the chrome off of the car, and figured the mirrors would look good white also.
mainly, I guess I need to know what kind of paint to use on the housings. Ive already done my grille, just need to snap a pic of it for your viewing pleasure!  :D

i did it a while back too

take em off the car, then separate the black "pedastool" off of the mirrors, then paint the actual mirror housing, it generally looks better if you paint the mirror white, and leave the pedastool black

i did the normal primer, then paint, like you would with any thing else, make sure its clean and roughed up, and have at it

pulling out an old pic...man

i wish my camera didnt distort color so much, makes it look much deeper

Sand the mirrors with 360 gritt, then 3 coats of body color, then 2 coats of clear....
