Title: Heater Core Inlet tube
Post by: mustangbd24 on April 19, 2010, 07:53:22 AM
Does anyone know when which tube is the inlet and which is the outlet on the heater core?  One is bigger than the other and need to fit my line restictor accordingly.  Thanks in advance.

Also, are there any good websites to get factory ford/mercury parts?

How about these?

also what does this mean?? It comes up in the parts description.
"Heater core, Heater core
HEATER ASY - LESS RA"

local dealer wont budge off the 114.24 dollar list price, this is why i ask.

FWIW I used a 13 mm 1/4" drive socket the last time I did one.  I put it up close to the firewall as is shown in the first diagram (the OLD position).  I've had zero issue.

Less RA could mean restrictor assembly.....

So what is the purpose of the restrictor? I noticed I had one in one of the heater hoses.

thank you very much for the graphics.  The restrictor is suppose to reduce the pressure in the hhater core thus prolonging the life.

Anyone have any thoughts about getting the core offline?  are those sites any good?

I have some copper reducers that i plan on using as the restrictor, should work well.

ahhh good call on the "retrictor assembly"

My last core was from 50resto IIRC......It's been in there for a few years without issue.....
