Title: V8 T5 behind a 4cyl?
Post by: 32VFoxBird on April 17, 2010, 01:25:37 PM
Thinking about getting this TC motor at the junkyard. I currently have a 351w and a 265ft/lbs T5. I'd like to keep the T5. Do I just swap in a TC input shaft, change the bell, and clutch?

The gearing will be off, will be extra gutless off the line.

Yup to all three. If you're going to have the trans apart for the input shaft swap, any plan to change out the gear set for the lower first?

Just askin' ;)

4.10's in the rear should make up for it.

4cyl & V8 inputs are not swappable, the 4cyl gear is too large to mate to the cluster gear... The front bearing retainer used on the 4cyl is also larger as is the bearing...

Best way to solve the 4 cyl to 8 cyl T5 conundrum is to have the machine shop boar out your crank to acept the v8 pilot then what ever you grab will work v8 t5 mounts right up and if you have a 4cyl t5 you just run the bushing along with the stock shaft. using the 2.3 bell and clutch obviously
