Any tips on how to fix the trunk torsion bars? One of them popped a few years ago and I've never fixed it because I like all of my fingers. Is there any way to pop it back with out the loss of blood on my part?:hick:
I had to move mine up the other day.
I used vice grips, and positioned 'em in such a way that I could actually get the bar up to the top "catch".
I had an idea to use a small jack's handle, but there wasn't room to engage the last catch, so I tried vice grips, and it worked good.
take a bathroom plunger handle and drill a hole the size of the trunk bar, place bar in hole and push up, thats how i did mine
And then you can still use your plunger lol.
just take a 1/2 socket and like a 12" or 14" extention and have at it simple
I fixed it today. The bar had popped out of the catch opposite of the hinge. I ended up notching a 1" diameter wooden dowel and wedging it against the floor to hole the bar up. Then I hooked the end of the bar with a long box end wrench and forced the sob into the catch. I still have all my fingers and the trunk stays open on its own. Win win:D.
I will remember that one, I've had my fingers pinched in that thing and take my word for it..... it didnt feel too good :rollin:
