I bought a parts car Saturday morning (minus engine and tranny) and I told her I would be booting her Explorer out of the garage until I could get this thing torn down. I gave her the option of letting the parts car sit on the drive, but she didn't like that at all.
Later in the day, she drove the Cougar to her mom's. When she got back, she asked about the speedo reading over 85 (I got that mod finished Friday night and hadn't said anything to her) and said she thought it only read up to 85. I asked how she knew, and calmly asked why she was driving MY car over 85 (holding a straight face was painful :rollin: ). She smiled and walked away. I'm getting the garage in about two weeks... :D
The speedo mod is AWESOME, for an added bonus !! This had to be the best find in years.
shweet..
lol :)
my dad wanted to get rid of my car too. Just about the same thing happend to him. Exept he had only driven it once before.
I remember the first time my Mom drove my Cougar. We were getting back from the dentist and he wouldn't let me drive, so my Mom drove. We pulled up to the road and its slighty uphill smooth concrete. Seeing a break in traffic my Mom guns it and lights up the tires a bit before letting off. A cop saw the whole thing and pulled us over. I was laughing uncontrollably, my Mom was embarassed, and the cop let us off with a warning.
I used to let my mother drive my '88 5.0 Cougar all the time, and one time I let her take it for a weekend. She fell in love with it.
When I wrecked it and bought the '87 T-Bird Sport she drove it once and reported that she liked the Cougar better. Her reason? The Thunderbird was "Too big" :D
She still doesn't believe me that they were essentially identical cars
Some how I don't think that would happen if my mom was to drive my T-bird... :rollin:
She did get stranded at the airport(flight cancelled) about three years ago, and called me to come get her when I got home from work. Even at 72, she said..
WOW this thing will move!!
the Sunday before last, my wife and I went to drive the Capri I'm buying this weekend, and at first she didn't think I should get it, but once we (I) drove it, she had a different outlook on the deal...
I think she wants the car worse than I do...
Nothin' like getting shoved back in the seat, while dual exhausts rattle your head...then again, the only V8's I've driven have been in my trucks, but that's for another time to tell.
HAHAH My mother suprised the hell out of me the first time she drove my 87 TC. She drives nice for a while, and then we get to a stoplight. She revs the engine up to about 5K and feathers the clutch, launching just about perfectly, Running through the gears like she doesnt drive a Buick Reagle (Which she does, a 96). So with my mouth hanging open the whole way back to her house, she proceeds to inform me that the car would benefit from a wider tire in the rear and mabey a panhard bar to control the wheel hop. She also says that she felt a slight resistance from third to fourth gear and i might want to get the tranny checked out. Then she says, "Overall, I like it." I said nothing......I was speechless. I later talked to my brother, and found out that the first time she drove his 5.0 Mustange she was powersliding around corners and commenting that she wanted some one to "Try to race". WTF????? hahahah To this day, I still don't know what the hell happened there but I think my mother used to be big into cars when she was younger. She turned 54 this year. And she was right about the tranny too, fourth gear went bad about 3 weeks later. I still chuckle when i think about it LOL
I will NEVER let my mom drive my car...... Just at looking the way she drives her... :nono: :nono:
Shes the kind of driver I'm yelling at on the streets....
She scared of Highways... so she drive at 150km/h (75km/h limit zone) on it to get off as soon as possible... OMG... Hello Public Danger.... :disappoin
And my GF is funny to see behind my wheel..... 5'1" 110lb.... :giggle: :rollin:
She's to tiny for the car.... she just doesnt fit and she prefer her Accent i used to call "her Go-Kart"....
Birdman that is the funniest thing i've read in a long time! :rollin: Reminds me of one time after my mom got her new safari van, pulled up to this soccer dad and his 3 kids in a caravan with 20+ inch rims on it at a red light. When it turned green my mom floored it, spun the tires and blasted this caravan full of kids! my mom shut it down around 75km/h and got a ricer fly-by from the caravan. Them old broads can suprise you at times! :D
