Title: rear braking....dug myself into a hole
Post by: 86Tbuzzard on April 14, 2010, 01:17:22 PM
On my '83 I'm doing a 5 lug swap, now comes down to rear rotors...someone online suggested '90 mpv front rotors with a 3.0. everything checks out besides i have to add a spacer no biggie, and the axle  doesn't fit into the rotor, it's about 1/8 of an inch too wide, i can grind it down, but yeah, i don't really want to. Eric mentioned a few things that might work. I no longer work at the salvage yard, so i do not have my resources like i used to. any help would be good...

I had the same issue with the Stainless Steel Brake Corp kit I used on the rear of my car when it was a four lug.  I took the axles down to a local machine shop with one of the rotors and it took the guy about 30 min and $20 to get it done.  Granted that was over 10 years ago and prices are most likely double or more.  The reason I had a machine shop do it was to take the material off evenly for balance reasons.  Also, I did not trust myself with a grinder on the Moser axles either :hick:
