is there any difference between the 86 and 87-88 5.0 throttle bracket?
Should be the same. It was an efi in 5.0L 86. Unless it had CFI then it would be different.
the cougar that I pulled the cable and bracket from was efi but where the TV cable comes through I'm having some trouble. do I have to take the adjustable part off to get it through the bracket?
It should twist to come out right. The brackets are the same.
I'll try again tomorrow after work and see what I can figure out.
The TV cable slides into a special cut hole, then twists into the right position to lock it into place so it doesn't fall out by any chance. The tranny depends on it.
sorry about the poor quality pics. I was thinking about cutting a notch in the side to be able to pass the cable through but the only thing stopping me is the risk of weakening the bracket. any ideas?
I think the 86 bracket is unique because they had a slightly different TV cable end that fit through that hole. The bracket on my 88 has a notch for the the TV cable to pass through.
Oh and yes an 86 Mustang used a different method to attach the TV cable to the throttle body than the 87-93 cars. Don't ask why because I don't know;)
I have a notch in my two brackets. It'll be fine to notch it.My '86 TV cable hooked up to the throttle body with a clip instead of pushing it through the hole on the lever. But,the cable hooked to the bracket the same.
can someone snap a pic to give me an idea of where to notch it? thanks
Here ya go

exactly what I needed!! thanks :D
No problem. Its kinda a joy have all stick cars.:D
do you know if anyone sells the heater hoses that meet the coolant tubes?
I got em at NAPA but any auto parts store should have the premolded ones. You may have to trim em a bit to make em work though. I had to trim ones on the car in the pic.
cool thanks
