I am closing on a house tomorrow. It has a nice 2-car garage! Finally I am getting a garage that is worth a ! I have lived in 2 houses that had tiny one-car garages (one was so small I had to back the car halfway out to get the hood open!). My current place has no garage at all.
This garage is 24x24 I believe. Nice concrete floor with a drain and everything. It even has it's own 100A service! I can't wait! The house is way bigger than I need, and will probably be a utilities pig, but I'll just close off the rooms I don't need. I plan on getting new windows soon. It already has good insulation.
I am a little nervous though. It is in another town about 15 miles away. The grass looks greener in this town, I sure hope so. It's a small town, with no visible ghetto. Houses are cheap over there though becaue it's kinda far from the "action". I have a few workmates who live over there and they say it's a boring, crime-free town. Believe it or not, that's just what I want. Boring and quiet.
So yeah, I am happy, nervous, etc... Just wanted to post about it, lol.
Congrats man. Learn to maximize your space, you'll outgrow it quickly. I went from a 1 car rancher to the place im in now. An oversized 2 car and a single car garage. I can fit 4 cars in the 2 car and still have room to work. Funny, I wanna put up a pole building in the next 2 years.
Congrats! I am trying to close on a 3-car garage house myself (short sells blow...). Living in a 1-car garage condo right now and it sucks!
Congrats! That's great! Being nervous is normal when buying something as big as a home. Just take a deep breath and enjoy the garage.
0oohhh.....with a concrete floor? lol I have a barn thats had horse in it before so its very packed with dirt on top....whoo. We plan on insulating it and putting concrete all in it but itll be awhile....

shiznit fellers, all I have is a pole barn. Had to redneck-engineer a lock for it. My electricity is supplied from the house by a 100 foot extension cord. Things get interesting when I need to use air, lol.
Hell, I don't even have a concrete floor. Had to lay down sheets of 3/4" plywood when I pulled the old engine, and stabbed in the HO. :hick:
Supposed to be having help in wiring it, but the way my job is right now...I'm afraid to spend a lot of money on something that's not so necessary.
well..... its flat:mullet:
BTW do u need some hubcaps for that thing? lol
Welp, all went well. We closed on the house today. I still don't have the garage power turned on, but I was over there snooping around... It looks like the top two roller brackets are pretty bent on the garage door. I'll have to take them off and pound them back into shape. Wonder what caused that?
I knew there was a problem, just because of the akward way the door was sitting. It's second on my list of things to fix, as it will be my work area for refurbishing things I rip out of the house. The first thing on the list is to fix a few broken window panes and change the locks.
Lots of us have posted about our houses and garages, this site needs an "about your house/garage" section :)
Heh, yeah. They're one of many things I need to buy. I was planning on getting the stock wire wheel hubcaps and putting those on a rim with winter tires, and getting some nice rims with good summer tires :D Money's tight though, not even McDonalds is hiring!
