Not that the Blue Oval's new six-cylinder musclecar needs more power. Yep, you read right: We called the new 3.7 Mustang a musclecar. Now if you're reeling from the idea of a Mustang V-6 ever being labeled with that word, or if you can't believe how far that meatball just flew from your mouth, chew on this: 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.7 at 102.0 mph.

Wow! I can't wait to see the new 5.0 times.
13.7 Wow
And a 6-Speed! If they ever throw an IRS under this chassis I will be officially jealous.
I heard that an IRS is in the works for future models.:D
I better get some NOS for my '07 GT. I really don't want to get smoked by a little v6!! These new cars are really impressive! It is our own modern muscle car era right now.
Fords solid axel is competing with IRS really well. The stang does handle quite well against its in class competitors.
I owned an 07 Stang. It was a solid car. Handled suprisingly well out of the box with the 3-link. I can only imagine the possiblities with a proper IRS setup.
Not to take the wind out of Ford's sails, but the V6 Camaro was already doing 13's. Still, the Mustang did it a few tenths faster. I'm loving this. GM has already stated their V6 is getting some more attention after hearing the figures for the new 3.7L Ford.

Well this can all only be good for car enthusiasts. GM and Dodge probably both already have something in the works to try and out-do Ford.
Horsepower wars? Its amazing the power these cars are getting and with the govt getting tighter with the mpg's in the future I wonder how long this will last. I would love to see Dodge response something 500lbs lighter then their Challenger would be awesome. Maybe a 2door Charger lol
The Challenger is the two door Charger. There will never be a two door Charger as long as the Challenger is on the books.
Well, if it's any consolation, they really are the same car, and the Challenger is SOOO much better looking than the Charger is.
it's still very heavy, though!
I couldnt do a chrysler no matter what. MOPAR parts = MOMONEY
I find it somewhat interesting comparing 1974 to now regarding emissions regulation and the power the engines put out.
Then: Engines made less power every year and met emissions.
Today: Engines make more power every year and still meet emissions.
These are great times for sure to be a gearhead. :D
3464lbs? That's not
really heavy, or even heavy at all for that matter. That's just not light yet. And with a skid pad of .96g and braking of 104ft, who cares? Those were numbers people raved about from recent gen Vettes. An extra 200 lbs helps make it a more comfortable daily driver.
I'm stunned by the numbers this thing produces... MPG, HP, braking and handling, price.
Unbelievable.
I believe he was referring to the Challenger. Curb weight is listed @ 4,140.
Ooops. And that's not just heavy, that's a pig.
