Title: Gains from Cobra upper and lower with spacer?
Post by: mike969mb on April 25, 2005, 08:11:05 PM
I might be able to get a deal on an upper lower from around here for around 100 dollars with a spacer. how much gain is this? how does this intake compare to aftermarket ones when the engine is modified fairly, say to 300 hp.

For 100 that an awesome deal, the eng mods i'm installing with a cobra intake will net around 300hp,definetly a decent flowing intake.

The Cobra and GT40 intakes are supposed to support approx 400hp.... On a stocked cammed HO engine there ain't anything that is enough better to worry about. If you can get it for a Franklin, I suggest grabbing it...

BTW I had a Cobra on my engine till I swapped it for the GT40 upper... Haven't seen any real difference...

dude..for 100 bucks who cares. id say its $100 in cool factor over the stock intake alone...lol

btw, they can be ported pretty generously if you ever get past its flow potential...

EDIT
actually they are just about the worst intake on the market...just sell it to me and let me worry about it..ill even give ya 200 bucks...lol

btw, inspect the intake....im just curious too see if its one of the newer ones made out of the states...

IMO, if nothing is wrong with it, grab while you can. I put one in my bird just because I got a deal on it and it will support my future plans for the car.

The problem with comparing intakes(or just about any other perfomance piece), is they will react differently to different combos. You put a intake that really really flows, on a mild cammed/headed engine and you'll loose low end torque. The GT40 was designed to complement the old IRON GT40 heads. So yea if you're gonna run a set of Victor Jr heads, wild cam, 1 3/4" headers into 3" pro dumps then no, it ain't enough. But with even most aftermarket street heads(or ported stockers) and a mildish cam (220*@.050 lift and less), the Cobra/GT40 is gonna be plenty...

well, with the 5.0 HO from the LSC you have its gonna be better than the stock intake. it should support plenty of mods, depending just how serious your going to get with them. its a great deal at 100 bucks.

well not going wit the lsc my friend convinced me to go ahead and work on the SO and build it up from the bottom my self since most of the parts i am gonna put are performance/aftermarket and at least i know what wear my engine has on it.

So does the 94-95 intakes fit on a 5.0 from before that?
