Title: something just doesnt look right
Post by: bigbada1 on March 16, 2010, 07:24:12 PM
I decided to test munt the accessorie brackets on my motor and something just doesn't look right the motor is a 5.0 out of an 86 capri and the accessorie brackets, PS pump, and ac are out of an 88 mustang most everything looks ok except for the ac unit it is sitting pen 15ed as you can see from the pic is this normal or anything that I should be concerned with?

Mustang brackets....looks right to me. If it's a little too ugly or "wrong" for you, grab a bracket from a 5.0 Bird or Cougar. The a/c and steering pump bracket are one piece, with a smaller steel bracket to brace the upper part of the compressor. It also has the steering pump a little closer to the engine.

No it not to ugly or wrong It just looked odd to me that the AC was sitting pen 15ed to the side I was just making sure this wasn't going to be a problem

Mustang brackets have the a/c compressor sitting "not level". That looks correct to me.

If I am correct,I believe that the Sang brackets mount the a/c compressor lower than our cars due to the Stang's lower "frontal" hoodline. I have some Stang brackets on the way to me.I need to make a decision which way to go with the bracketry.

Thats how they sit on a stang.  I just took that set up off of my 93 LX and installed the FRPP A/C delete.  Much cleaner now.

I have the a/c delete kit on mine now,and one on the new engine, but, with the summer in Oklahoma getting over 115 degrees,I'm going back to a/c.It really sucks when it's over a hundred degrees, and it rains while you're going down the highway.Steamy windows, sweaty clothes, not a good thing when you have somewhere you need to be and look nice when you get there. Those days, hopefully, will be over soon.I'm hoping that with the new engine,it'll make enough power to more than compensate for the a/c.It doesn't draw that much power anyway. When I have the seats done,I'm also adding heaters in them, and Dynomat throughout the car.

OK thanks guys I was just looking at some of the other engine bays and noticed that my ac was pen 15ed and not sitting level and wanted to make sure everything was ok
