So, Ohio Technical College is now out of Hunter's future... he has decided to go to WYOTech in Blairsville, PA..... he is still taking Auto body collision repair and will take the Street Rod course.... Cortney also is going for the Auto Body collsion repair and business.... and shock and great surprise...
Dakota signed up today to go too!
He will be taking Auto Mechanics and High Performance Engines.....
The placement rate for jobs is 89% and higher in their field choices. They will all be done in June of 2011, unless they decide to add a 3 month course after that.
I am so excited about this for all of them. They also plan to go into business together later... so they can take care of engine and body work and will be certified in many areas.
So.... now you all will know who to come to when your cats and birds need some TLC!
WOOT!
looks like i may have them build me a bad ass 4 banger But congrats! When i went to boces i ended up 2nd in my class and 3rd overall.
hahaha IM GOING TO WYOTECH TOO!!!!!!!!!! But itll be a couple years, ive gotta get outta H.S. But ive been talkin to the rep. and its definately the best choice in my eyes. Ill either go to the one in Wyoming or Daytona, havent decided. Daytona has Street-bikes, thats kinda a big thing for me, but i will never leave auto collision.
I know 2 people who went there and graduated last year. They are employed in the fields that they chose.
Cool, congrats all around Karen!
Thanks Eric... and all the rest of you too.
Yeah there placement rate is like 89% and higher..... we were pretty impressed with what we heard... now we have to go tour the place. But they certainly relieved some of our worries, especially with housing and such.... OTC just wasn't even trying to work with us on financials and everything... and Hunter was to start there in July.
We start the financials Monday for them to go to WYO.
i know how it is i was going to go to uti july of 02 but they never worked with me on getting funding for the coarses i was going to take and never helped secure any housing. So needeless to say i never went and went into factory work insted and have had a struggle to keep my head above water ever since.
Congrats! That's great news for them all. I wish them luck!
i graduated from boces with high honors as well. had grant money to go to otc, and just wasnt impressed with the offerings they had. so i decided to enroll in Ford ASSET instead. now i get a two year mechanical engineering degree. and spend half the money.
Wow Chris, I didn't realize you lives so close to us!
Right now Hunter is 6th in his class at BOCES... he's only a fraction of a point from being in the top 5.
I expect him to be able to get some good offereings in scholarships and such to help him out.
They usually do pretty well, where abouts are you guys if you dont mind me asking? anything i can do to help out? let me know. telll him to just keep pushing for excellence haha.
Chris
Hey, I just read this the other day, thought it might be of interest to you. Hope it doesn't dampen the celebration too much.

Basically it's about how for-profit trade schools don't always live up to the hype, and may not give you much in exchange for their $30k tuition.
