Well I have almost all of the parts that I will be needing to do the conversion I am starting with an 86 Capri 5.0 and T5 since my TC was once an auto converted over to cable 2.3 there is one hurdle that I will not have to jump over. I know what most of you are going to say the 86 has e6 heads. I know this and the entire motor will be replaced within the next few years with a 331 or 347 I would like to have went with a mustang Ho with E7s at a minium but I got the motor and trans for $200 so hey why not right. Completly stock except for using an electric fan. Here are some pics of the motor after I cleaned it up and put some new gaskets and a water pump. I also have my future gear head helping. I will keep things updated.
You can still put E-7 heads on that engine for cheap and have more horses and a lot of fun.
Yup...there's a few F-series down at pick 'n pull...you'll want the fuel rail from one, unless you've already got that ;)

A wiring harness for a '86 Stang/Capri won't work in a Bird without mucho modification, won't even fit a '87-up Stang...
If you can't spring for something better, I would not waste my time with the E7s, E6 run pretty good with a clean exhaust system... My '86 GT Stang would run 14.5 with a shiznitty 2.2 60ft(traction), all it had were U/D pulleys, 1.7 rockers and a 2.5" cat back system...
No Im using a Bird harness and I am going to stick with the e6's the main reason Im doing this swap with this set up is due to the fact that it was cheep and after getting everything done once I finish the stroker I wont have to mess with all of the wiring and BS
Even a bird harness is going to need some work to interface into a '87-'88 TC, as they have unique wiring compared to any other Bird or Coug...
Yes I am aware of the wiring that will be involved but wiring should not be an issue im an electrical controls engineer and will be doing my homework
It lives I finally got around to finishing up all of the wiring tonight. Fired up first crank. Still have a few things left before I can take her out for a spin but at least I know that the engine will fire.

I did all the wiring on mine prior to installing the engine, even scanned the computer for codes...

neutral safety switch I think, its really close....
tape the two wires together to start it? you can always put the harness on it later when you get one....just makde sure to push the clutch in or put it in neutral first...
Easy for me, everything I've ever driven (except the S10) has had the clutch safety bypassed...learned to drive in 1989 that way.
Seems like Jeep in 1981 didn't care about a NSS, lol
Mine is jumpered out at the moment as well not sure that it will ever be wired in.
I have another harness but the thing is sitting in storage and is on the other side of town :( Beau, its an auto car, no clutch pedal :D
But it still won't start because of the NSS? Or am I on a different page? lol
