:hick:Before I bought the car it looks to have been rapaired. Not a good repair but at a distance you cant really notice it. I want to make it look like the opposite side, so even up close it'll be hard to spot the repair. Here are a few pictures of the current condition, the opposite-non damaged- side, and the car at a glance. notice the drivers door dent that I'm confident could be taken out by a love tap to the doors interior. (yes. those are screws...idk what he was thinking....maybe he didnt have adhesive...:hick:

P.S. How do I get these pictures smaller? lol:punchballs:
That bottom part of the quarter is rotted out and filled over from the looks of it.
You'll need a replacement if you want to fix it right. also looks like the rocker was filled too.
I use photobucket for my pics. it will upload them whatever size you set it at
Yeah. I should have taken the 1/4 off the white one before I sold it haha. and the ground effects.... :( I sold it to a guy that had a 83 ford something and just wanted it for the engine and tranny..... :(
someone around here just cut some panels recently
with the amount of work involved to make it like the other side, you'd be better off buying a good roller and swap your parts over to it. third rolling chassis or even running are pretty cheap now-a-days.
It's not a lot of work for that bottom part. Just a some work to find the lower part that's not rotted.
yeah, I am in Auto Collision classes and we do this kind of repairs all the time. the problem is I dunno where to start, I could take the whole thing off, then bondo it, and then shave it down by eye...I just wouldnt feel comfortable doing that.... not to mention if I bondo it I would want to paint it. I could use silver spray paint like it has right now...at least thats what it looks like...
And the rocker is fine, I havent really checked it out but i dont think it has been touched.
I agree it has a bad bondo job, but it doesn't appear to have rust. it would be hard to keep that small gap between the rocker and 1/4 panel, too. it will require welding and lots of body tools to get it right. not to mention hours upon hours of sanding, top-coating, more sanding, rinse and repeat.
just look for a 1/4 bottom. they show up when someone ss a car. I found all 4 for my vert... rust free too.
the panel will save you a lot of work and problems
then I weld it in, grind it down, and pretty it up?
more or less.. but yes. if it's not rotted above the moulding, then straiten it out and splice the panel under the side moulding where it will be less noticeable
