crow bar to the trunk lid a few times not fixable need a new trunk lid any color will work black would be nice.
but doors keyed up and lock poped out on passanger side sidewebed some of the door.
they got inside and messed up the stearing column
brand new paint job messed up happened a few days back:mad:
also on a side note motor blew up in my 5.0 ho swap T-bird
so no car till i get the cougar door locks back on a key clylinder back in might redo the paint on trunk lid and try something different.
got 2 nitto invo on back of my t-bird day i messed up motor be nice to have that money but those tires are sick when i get a expoler motor or i got HO block and can buy some lightning heads with a few extra parts.
pics later but not pretty if someone messed with your car with well over $20,000 on parts and labor and you found out what would happen to them i better never find who did it.
hope some of you are having better luck than me ttyl.
All I can say is, Im sorry, that really sucks. Nothing worse that f'ing thieves.
Hope it works out eventually for you. You had a new paint job, that was fouled up??
Did they even take anything...? Sounds like straight-up vandalism. Lets pick the flashy looking two door with shelby wheels on it! Hopefully it's not due to any enemies you might have made, aware of it or not.
Insurance?????
on a 1988 vehicle worth >20g's.....bet thats not cheap!
Unless the owner gives specific details as to the changes that were made to the car to include pictures and receipts; the blue book would be the only compensation minus the price for s.
agreed. i have a certain amount declared, and proven, against the tbird with my insurance company. that way if someone takes out the car on the street, their insurance hasta cough up the extra dough.
I was thinking the same thing. I read through it a couple of times, but I couldn't figure out a lot of what he was saying.
Sounds as if they were looking for something worth taking (perhaps even the car itself) and got mad when they realized that wasn't gonna happen....
Sorry to hear that, thieves are real low life pieces of sh*t. And usually drug addicts too, at least the guy that stole my motorcycle was.
Is there any pics of the damage?
Must be U.S. only,up here we have a cap of 1500 dollars for compremensive and 1500 for theft regardless.
So if my car gets broken into, i have 1500 for damages and if anything gets stolen i have 1500 for that.
My $300 deductable is taken off of one of those not both.
I don't have anything appraised or told to my insurance.
If anything like that happens out here your rates do not increase either.
They only do if you get in an accident that is deemed your fault.
Guess it sucks to have insurance in the states.
Sounds more to me like you have only up to $1500 coverage. If a $100 radio gets stolen, you get $100. But what if what you have is worth more than $1500? If a $3000 system gets stolen you only get $1500. I would hope there is a plan where you can add additional coverage for expensive items. That's where the declaring comes in. If you say "I have a $4000 stereo, and I'd like coverage". The USA insurance companies say, "fine, but you have to prove you have it (reciepts, pictures, etc)". Then you pay for your additional coverage and hope you never need it.
When my cougar got burglarized back in 1997, I had comprehensive coverage on it. It was like $8 more a month above standard liability. But I got $2800 for my stereo and vandalism repairs (since I had all reciepts).
Rates do not increase for comprehensive claims, only at-fault collisions.
So USA insurance isn't all bad... Just our standard liability coverage "keeps you legal" and doesn't cover hardly anything of your own (just the damage you cause others).
Pics.C'mon....cough 'em up.
yeah i would like to see some pictures too.
Down here if you can show you've added say $10,000 in stereo gear to a car, you can insure it and get that much back. Your rates will be higher depending on how much equipment, whether the car is garaged, crime rate where you live and commute to, etc.....
I'm more interested in how you spent 20K in parts.
That's what I was thinking.

not convincing enough !!!!!!:rollin:
Wasn't on the paint..... I didn't have to enlarge the photos to see the orange peel.
I have to say I actually like the color though.
I'm sorry to hear that it got jacked up though. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
It's a nice looking car.I'm not a two tone person myself, but,it turned out nice.I'd still like to see the damage.
that sux dude I always loved your cougar especially the paint
The insurance is the same, you can add more coverage with proof at an additional charge.
i also dont see how you spent 20k. maybe 10k-12k tops.
It's possible to spend a lot of money especially when you want to spend it.
I laugh when people use a number figure to tell me what they have in their car. looks like you paid WAY too much for a lot of things. but it's only worth what someone is willing to spend.
almost $300 to get a new steering column had to start with a screw driver for a few weeks now.
need a new trunk lid now for 87-88 cougar let me know ASAP.
also needs a set of door locks one is FUBAR.
Insurance was cancelled shiznitty new job $7.25 a hour.
on a side note need a intake for my t-bird motor i am buliding because my T-bird motor is a smoking V7 now.
gotta repaint the trunk lid so i got a new paint idea for it.
life moves on but this needs to stop wrecked car all parts in this car then break in.
new T-bird no more car payments and no more motor.
and it sucks hagerty only covers 1986 models and back for now but its okay i still would not mind a 83-86 t-bird with a 460 swap.
i am a nice guy most of the time so not sure if i pissed anyone off time to make the car nicer just to make sure and it might be nice to buy a gun soon.
its just money but i still have not put the sound system back in it.
but now i can get work done cheap motor swaps for like $200 or so.
well when you think all the parts had to be pulled out of my wrecked 87 t-bird then added to the cougar then got more parts its just money but i can walk to work right now but after i get a car fixed and get a better job i could careless again about $$$.
you don't own our cars for money you own them because you like them you fix them up because ford did not spend enough time doing so.
i don't care if i got $1200 in a 87 t-bird or $20,000 in a cougar because at the end of a day i got a nice fun car thats kinda rare to see and not like anyone else's.
pics this week i hope.
^
couldnt have said it better myself
Is it as hard to understand your speaking as it is your writing?
Got a break down? You could build 3, possibly 4 replicas of that cars for 20K. Still sucks that it got vandalized though. There used to be a basically stock hatchback with purple paint, exhaust, and sears craig wheels on it and the gentleman was claiming to have laughable 18K into it. If that's true i feel much better about the 10K or so i have into my car.
Hmmm, surely someone here might sell you a column for far cheaper...?
Yes, because owning a gun is such a crime deterrent?
I'd rent or else find the use of a locking storage place for whichever car you're not driving, or else get a beater car to drive every day, keep the good stuff for fun.
I just feel a gun will be a waste if you're at work, and your car is at home when it's broken into.
One last thing...if I built a car, and had 20K into, I'd god sure have all the work and parts covered before it was ever left out of my sight. There are people in the world who you've never met, and never will, who can't seem to respect others' hard work and money spent on something nice and they feel they have to vandalize or steal nice stuff.
I don't mean to sound condescending, cause I'm not trying to be, just saying that "out of sight, out of mind" may be a better ideal than buying a gun strictly for defense reasons.
Sorry to hear about your cars...I too like the scheme on the Cougar..hope you get it fixed soon to as good, or even better shape. I'll look around here, I *think* I might have another column, if you're interested. I'll take considerably less than 3 bills for it too...but let me look, not 100% sure it's out there.
