Post by: vinnietbird on February 04, 2010, 07:18:01 AM
How do you change it?I've NEVER had one break, but yesterday, the black plastic part of it broke off.

Also,if someone has one in nice shape.Let me know.

I always thought they just unscrewed.. But I also never really looked at it. I have one from the parts bird you can have. hopefully it's an easy part to undo. (I have the entire column intact as an extra for my cars)

They're pretty tight the first time you take em off. I bought a nice billet one for mine.

Because if you're not careful you can accidentally let forth demons from hell.

Vinnine, mine did the same thing about a year ago. Take off the plastic trim around it and the tilt lever closer to where it screws in will have 2 flat spots to allow for a small wrench to get a grip and unscrew it.

Sweetness.I like easy stuff to fix. After everything else over the last two weeks, this will be a pleasure.I may install it twice just because it's so easy.

The tilt lever does unscrew. However it may be tight. It is best to take the column shroud off and get as close as possible to the base of the lever with a rag and a pair of vice grips. Do not of course put the vice grips on the plastic handle end. If you have problems finding a lever I am sure I can find one next time I go to Pull-A-Part.

Best movie ever:D

I broke the turn signal stalk on my car a few years ago. I pulled it down to turn on the signal and it snapped in half. The replacement stalk is the only part in my interior that is not original to the car.
