Title: 87 Cat
Post by: knucklebuster87 on January 21, 2010, 03:36:30 PM
Howdy, new to this forum. This summer I picked up a 87 LS 5.0 for 500.00. She's only got 139,000 and had light damage to the front. I've since replaced the bumper cover, header panel and light assembles. Valve cover gaskets trans fluid, and the worst job I've ever had to do on any car, heater core. Rear end leaks a littlebut holding off on that. Thinking about a 5 lug swap. The cat runs great. We made a trip fron gallatin Tn. to Indianapolis just before xmass, got 23 miles a gal. The only 2 problems I have with her , is fogged up headlight lenses, to the piont I can no longer drive her at nite. And I haven't been able to find a grill. Will post pics as soon as I figure out how to do so.

Welcome, and we need pics.....Now,to business....What plans do you have for the old car?Pretty much anything can be done to them as you can do to a Fox Stang fairly cheap and easy. Here's a link for a grille, also, post in the classifieds and one may pop up.

If you can't figure out to post pics, just upload them to something like Photobucket and post the links. Either way, welcome!

There is a technique for wet-sanding and polishing the headlight lenses. There should be a thread floating around in the archives.

Thanks for the welcome. I've tried a lense polish about 3 times still not good better than before. Alot of moisture inside each lense. the plastic weld must have pin holes in em. First thing I'd like to do is swap the rearend. Something 5 lugged with disks. Then do a mild rebiuld on the 5 0. This cat's the wives car. We did own a 92 T-bird with a 3.8. nice car, fast for a v-6. Made the mistake of letting stepson borrow it, totaled it bad. He's lucky to be alive. So I'd like to get another one.

Not that I know of, unless you count the "meets" of riceburners at the jiffy lube or autozone parking lot lol.

What particular place? That sounds like it would be pretty fun to attend. Have you seen that old muscle car dealer, I think off of 31e by rivergate? They have some nice stuff there.
