It's getting so expensive to sell on Ebay anymore.
I was getting away only paying $0.35 cents per listing doing buy-it-now auctions at any price + not using any other "added options"~But now they just keep upping the Final Sale Value Fee.
This is currently at about 12% of the final sale price of your item, And it's 15% for media items.
And if you sell things in the hundred dollar+ range, these percentages will rise accordingly.
So i was wondering if anyone here has found a substitute for ebay, And has had success with it?
So far the only thing i've found that looks like it has potential is UBID.com
It depends on what you're selling. For parts,I've had good luck on Ebay and the forums (here,Corral,NATO).
There's always craigslist, but be ready for phone calls with people who only read the ad title...despite posting every little thing about the item.
Example; about 6 months ago I had listed the '89 Cougar that briefly resided here. I had it priced at 500, knowing it would go less than that...one gal offered me 250, asked if she could make payments, while she drove the car and I kept the title...:hick:
Ummm, no. lol
Then there was the case of the '88 Bronco that needed a (5.0) motor...had pics of it, including one of the engine-less engine bay...yet I bet I got at least 5 emails and texts as to what was wrong with the engine...it finally sold though.
Craigslist is good to buy parts....not so good to sell 'em there lol
That's about all I know ;)
Ebay's suckitude knows no bounds. I am happier now, having given up on eBay (and online sales entirely) than I ever was in the nearly 10 years that I was doing it, and have lots more money, too. I can't suggest any alternatives (other than getting out of it altogether), but I just read that Amazon has just surpassed eBay for site visits for the first time ever, so you might try that...
+1 on the getting out of the online sales
I have got to the point now where if I cant give it away on one of the forums I visit I throw it out. Less headaches hassle etc
New word, sweet.
It really is a shame. Ebay always had potential to be great. It was pretty good some time ago but now its repulsive.
I posted to craigslist, a set of 5.0 under drive pulleys and all brackets that I had powder coated by a buddy. I put $1 in the title because I had best offer over $75 in the actual ad. Guy comes over, looks at them, says he'll take them and we load up his car. He opens his wallet and hands me a dollar. I look at him and ask whats this? He says "It's a buck. You wanted a buck right"? I went over and grabbed my stuff out of his car and booted him out of my driveway.
i put my 53 Chevy on craigslist i cant count the e-mails and phone calls i have got asking what is wrong with it some saying the price is to high people asking to make payments and we do need to talk about e-bay what a joke and as far as the sites i put stuff up for sale on well no luck their but im not just going to give my stuff away
so what do you do
