What is involved in going from 19# injectors to 24# injectors.I have the injectors, but would I need an aftermarket MAF?Would my A9P work with the new injectors and an aftermarket MAF? Any info would be great.
it would be a waste of time and gas putting 24's on your motor. get a good tune, and you'll have better results and fuel economy.
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum ok.
Anyhow, at your level vin,24s are a good upgrade,19s were barley enough for the stock HO.
You will need a new aftermarket maf for the 24s or the one from a 93 cobra as they came factory with them,(guess ford was wrong on that one too lol).
Your A9P will work fine, mine does with my setup.
The aftermarket Maf will take care of the transfer function.
Guess i should have went with a tune and kept the 19s on mine to LOL.
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum, he has a stock motor with an E cam and exhaust. And a 93 cobra MAF isn't going to work with an A9P. those meters are specifically cal'd to a 93 cobra ECM.
Dude it's not stock,he's got highly ported E7's E303 and explorer intakes not to mention headers and exaust,in other word's HCI or dam close to a cobra Motor.
The maf will work,i've seen it done, hell TC50 ran a cobra comp with 19s and it made no difference.
Not only that the 19s were barley enough for the stock HO.
Listen to who ya want vin but you know my experience in the matter.
He'll need more pump before anything.
You have a PM Vin.
That is true however, i think he has a 155lph
Hey Vin-I basically have the same setup as you do(E303,24 lbs,exhaust,93 cobra mass air,155 pump) I have an A9P and it works fine. I gotta be honest I did all of those mods at the same time and I felt absolutely no difference(seat of the pants). But It sure does sound better.
Alright,to clarify.....These are for the new engine....GT40-P engine with worked heads (ported, valve job, etc),Trick Flow Stage 1 cam,Explorer intake,65mm t-body. I do have a 155 lph fuel pump in the tank now. I'm trying to get everything ready for the new engine when it goes in.The 19's on my current engine will stay on the current engine.I think that the 19's on the new engine won't be enough. I have the injectors, and,I have a Mark VIII Mass Air meter/sensor,BUT,I am planning on getting a C&L meter for 24's.I need to know,if,the C&L meter, and the 24's are all I need with the A9P for my car.Getting a tune for the computer isn't really an option right now.No-one near here does that.Once everything is assembled, and I'm pretty sure I'm done under the hood for a while,a dyno tune will probably happen down in Dallas later in the year,or early next year.
I want some of what you're drinking...:rollin: I've never owned a Cobra EEC or MAF...
I've mostly run a Pro-M 76mm & 24lb with either a C3W1, A9P or A9L(which I prefer)...
I haven't really checked into a Pro-M meter.I will look at them.I had an offer for a C&L for a hundred bucks delivered.
I thought you had the eec that started with an x3 or something and it was from a cobra, you said you tried it and it made no difference, hmm guess i was wrong.
I did however know the cobra maf would work with the A9P.
X3 ECM is 94-95 is it not?
I have thought about using the Cobra ECM,BUT,it would cost more than an aftermarket MAF,and, they are actually a little less aggressive than the A9P and A9L.I'll just get an aftermarket MAF when the funds are available and go from there.I think the MAF (Pro M,C&L),should make it all good with my current computer.
I know I pm'd you, I ran my pro-m with the a9l+p they were the same, I kinda like the p better because rpm stay up longer between shifts. I really don't use the clutch to shift.
I use the A9P as well.
What do you mean you don't use the clutch?
You actually use yours all the time?
Um.....yes I do...And I have the wicked powerful left leg muscles to prove it.
I drive it like a truck, when the rpms are right it shifts right to the next gear. I just use the clutch to pull out and stop.
Thats how I drive sticks too.
I'd better stick to what I know.I've got so much more to do I can't afford to break anything. At the rate I'm going,I'm never going to get done.Today, motor mounts if the weather holds up.I'll surf around Ebay and the Corral and look for Mass Air meters. The one I wanted was sold......another guy had the money first. That's the way it should be.Money talks.
I was reading that clutch thing and then I read it again and again and then what do you mean you don´t use your clutch all the time you change gear and so. Is this some joke or what.. anyway as much as I have learned about transmissions then I always use clutch.
I still don´t really get it --> don´t use clutch all the time. Ok maybe I´m weird.
But you vinnie have done good job and good luck for searching Mass Air meter. I want to work on my block already.
If your driving, and know where your vehicle shift rmp's are, you can usually shift it without using the clutch. I drove that way all the time. only really used the clutch when I needed, or braking. it become habit knowing where to shift it after a while.
It nice when your clutch cable breaks. Start the car in first gear and just pop it into the next one. It takes alot of getting used to.
As I said,I'd better stick with what I know.So far the cable is working fine after 18 months.
Shifting without the clutch is easy, just takes a bit of practice... I taught my younger daughter how to do when she had her '87 2.3 5 speed Stang, she usually used the clutch for 2nd and maybe 3rd, but could shift into 4th and 5th without a problem...
It's good to know how if the clutch cable or linkage breaks... I drove a old E-100 van back to the shop in Va Beach from Portsmouth without any clutch not once, but twice... Had to come through the down town tunnel and pay the toll, slapped it into neutral and stopped at the toll booth, shut it off, pulled it back in 1st(three on tree) and started it in gear, away I went...
To answer the original question yes 24s with an aftermarket MAF and an A9P should be fine. That's what I'm going to do this year when the T-bird wakes up from its winter nap.
BTW what 24s are you going to use? The ones from a Mark VIII/Continental with a 4.6 32V?
