Is there a difference "besides one being for an automatic" on a la2/la3 or a-- 8au ecm ?
What the hell are the differences between the 3?
Small refinements to the spark and fuel maps. For instance, the 8UA uses more timing in the lower rpms, where the LA3 is a bit more agressive with the timing in the upper rpm range.
Alot of people have switched to the 8UA and gotten a noticeably better idle quality.
Personally, I've got an LA3 in my 88tc 5speed, and my son has an 8UA in his 89 mustang with a 2.3T/5speed combo, and I can't tell a difference in idle quality.
So take it for what it's worth.
I guess it comes down to what ever works for your particular combo.
Thanx--Well my car is stock--the only thing in its future for now is a manual boost controller -I fried my computer and I bought a 8au that was referb'd by ford in 91.
I just needed to get the car back to normal for now,I plan on giving my LA3 to my buddy to repair. Also Is there a better aftermarket comp.? one you can plug a laptop into ect.
AND
The t-5 "how much hp. can they handle? I want to do a 347 with a single turbo-or a f1-r Supercharger but I really dont feel like buying a Tremec t-56 @ 1700$ used
The TC T-5 is rated for 240Ft Lbs torque, so it'd be in destruct mode with the combo you mentioned... Anyway, has a 3.97 granny gear first, not very useful with a V8 unless you were running a 2:73 rear... The later motorsports T-5 has a 2.95 1st and is rated at 325ft lb, still no doubt iffy for your combo...
Third gear is the Achilles heel, I busted a early 5.0 version in a stock '86 GT Stang...
Well that figures :/
Oh well I'll just have to go with a built auto-
I have the f1r :D I'm just iching to stick it on something :burnout:
I traded my waverunner for the entire setup minus motor.
But the combo went 9.4 --they went to a f2 and runs 8.70 @176  this is a heavy foxbody conv. full interior
