Well, my silver 86 was borrowed my my evil ex and she turns around and trades it in at a dealership for $500!! (that was 3 years ago, and I'm still searching for it)
Today my son calls me all sad to tell me that the black 87 Tbird I built for him got impounded over a month ago (he doesnt live with me) and today he needed my help to go pick it up from the police impound. WAIT!! It gets worse!! We get there and the car had just been sold at the friggin auction!! I'm so bummed out right now I could cry. THIS JUST SUCKS!!!
Yes! Its the black one that I wanted in the banner section! At least I will see it in the banner section. Its will probably be stripped for someones dune buggy:punchballs:
How did the ex borrow it and trade it?Is she an owner?
your going to have to explain in a little detail about the silver one and how it was traded in. like whos name it was in or why someone would loan "anything" to an ex :P
when my tbird got impounded i went to the auction and bought it back as it was cheaper than paying the fines on it :hick:
Whoa, that sucks. Are you talking about this car? http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=24451
If so, that kid needs an ass kicking.
WoW i hope not. Still, a month in impound?
i would contact the buyer if you could and why did you son tell you so late? feel bad you for you man 2 birds one day :(
If only your name was on the title, and she didn't have a valid bill-of-sale...that makes her guilty of 2 or 3 crimes right off.
Ex's are ex's for a reason....NO way in flaming blue hell would I let any of my ex's ever drive ANY of my vehicles. ;)
Crazy shiznit man...
why would he wait a month then call you and ask for help? was he in jail and it was his first chance to call? I agree and think its time for :beatyoass:
Yep, thats the car!! Oh well, he will just have to look back on what he did as he now has to get a car himself.
As for my ex. We were going through a bitter divorce and she had no car to drive, so following my lawyers advice I let her use the 86 since it was both in our names. One day she pulled up in a Taurus and I asked her where the car was, and she said it was parked at her brother because it wasnt running well, and she was borrowing her brothers car. My daughter later that evening told me her mother traded it in at a dealership for the Taurus. The dealer had every right to take it in trade because it was listed as "Or" on the title. He got my $5000 in performance parts TC for $500. I went to buy it back, but it already was gone to the auction. Every year for the last 3 years I run a registration search in hopes I can find it. Thats why this year I treated myself to a new 86 TC.
First of he didnt tell me it was impounded because his license got suspended and his car was SUPPOSED to be parked in his mother garage. His mother didnt want to tell me because I would have given her a rash of sh*t for not hiding the keys.
His loss someone elses gain. I hope a good turboforder gets her. If you guys see it on craigslist or something please contact me or buy it for yourself. There was a lot of love put into that car.
Soooooo......what's the T-Bird status?You have the white one....right?
I have my white 87 and my grey primered 86. My sons 87 in the one that went bye bye at the auction.
At least you're still in the game,so,the curse really isn't yours, but those around you.
as for letting an ex borrow anything... I guess we are crazy too.
We would let my husband's ex (or my ex-wife-in-law, as I call her) to borrow our vehicles any time, she would do the same.
However, we have a decent relationship with her and are friends. It's taken a long time to get to that point. If we didn't have a good relationship with her there's no way on earth I'd let her borrow a vehicle.
Being an ex for a reason is true... however, it's not always that cut and dry. Sometimes it's because both parties were young and dumb but have since grown up. We have found it's best not to hold grudges and life is much eaier when you can be friends.....especially when there are kids involved.
That really sucks man! I'm with you, hopefully a Bird lover will end up with them and give them a good home.
I feel for you,...man it's gotta be rough losing 2 birds. That is enough to make a man snap,it's a shame that you couldn't get at least 1 of them back.
GREAT UPDATE!!!
I got up this morning kind of annoyed and I called the PD auction to confirm what time auction started and if his car was sold for sure. Well...The officer said for some reason the car was pulled from the auction floor, but would be included in the up coming auction. They said they were actually trying to find my number since I was trying so hard to get information on the car. Personally I feel that they may have either concluded that they were in the wrong by auctioning it of before 45 days, or they state could get more money from the car from my son than the auction. I could be because I kept a calm head and remained calm through all my correspondences. Anyway, my son could come pick it up if he had all the paperwork and fees he had prepared yesterday!! He did because he came the day before:)
I ran over to my sons job picked him up and had him bring all the fees and correct paperwork AND HE GOT THE CAR BACK!!
It cost him $1700 in fees and I have the keys, so live and learn.
2 lessons I learned today. 1) Never give up 2)Be polite and nice to officers and they will help you
Still will keep looking for my other TC....someday...someday
WOW, thats great!
Awesome!!!!
You need to give the kid a Ford Escort or something and keep the TC for yourself. lol.
That is awsome!!! I'm glad it worked out for you!
Thats great, talk about a lucky break. Congrat man. Thats a nice looking car.
So happy that it worked out for you after putting all that work into it I'm happy you got it back your probably still upset bout the 86 though there's a guy here in long island selling a blue 86 v8 for 750 with a "brand new" engine I'm thinking bout getting it
Wow man, really glad to hear that at least one of the cars worked out, hopefully you never give him that car back(It better be in YOUR driveway!), as I am a firm believer in earning something like that, I.E. Blood, sweat, and tears.
An escort? shiznit, I'd get the kid a GEO until he can demonstrate that he can handle the responsibility of a car like that. There are absolutely no excuses that can justify getting a car like that impounded.
PS, you DID look at it real good for damage or missing parts, right? Some of the impounds around here are real shady.
Never thought to look because it was in a Police impound. I just parked it in the garage, took the keys and locked it inside. Never looked back.
I guess I should check. Do that this weekend.
