Title: SN95 Axles + TC Housing?
Post by: Romeo2k on January 10, 2010, 05:21:28 PM
Just need clarification.
Sorry if its been answered/discussed, But i did not see a definative answer in my searches.

If you have a TC 8.8 Rear Axle Housing, Will you need and only be able to use Fox Length Axles?
Or do you also have the option to use SN95 Length Axles?

I thought i read somewhere it was fine to use SN95 length axles, However with the small length difference (SN95's are a tiny bit longer), Would this cause any MAJOR kind of issues besides potential brake/bracket clearance problems (Disc Brakes)?

Also,
Would the Exciter rings need to stay on, Or would there be an option of removing them? (No ABS)

the 8.8 housings are the same width in a fox chassis from 79-98.

Yea, I guess whats throwing me off is the axle length difference and the fact that the mustang crowd seems overly concerned about "94-98" Axle length and "Fox Length".
When (As far i can tell?) It shouldn't make any real difference...
The above distraction might just depend on other setup factors i'm not seeing/paying attention to i suppose.

The rear rotors won't work.
I believe you have to cut off the Tc bracketry and use the bolt on 9n stuff.

That's not a problem for me, As i'm looking into a "Unique" Rear Brake setup that required this already.

So then it probably is just a matter of brake setup>bracket clearance issues and nothing more? Works for me.

*Edit:
I'm such a ditz, LOL.

I talked to my dad about it, And also looked up the measurements again~The difference is so minimal i dont see how it really could go wrong.
For some reason i was thinking it was more of a length difference than it actually is (Been looking through too may measurements lately).
Anyway~
Thanks for the input guys.
