Title: Cat back exhaust for 88 tbird. Fox or SN-95?
Post by: 86caprirs on January 09, 2010, 06:43:56 PM
Which one fits best on our cars?

I know tail pipes have to be extended which I will do with exhaust tips. I was going to buy an aluiminized Magnaflow system with chrome 3" tips.

Fox: 87-93 LX or GT
SN-95: 94-96 5.0L
SN-95: 97-04 4.6L

I don't know which one fits the best, but if you're going to go Magnaflow, why not step up to the stainless steel version? It's not that much more expensive, and you'll never have to replace it again. I had one on my asc/McLaren convertible, and it was quite a nice system.

Well for the price up here there is a huge difference. Plus I just drive in the summer so no worries about rusting. Plus I had a magnaflow aluiminized on my bird a few years ago that I drove in the snow and salt. Held up really well.

you will need to extend the flow tubes as well. I'd stick with a fox catback.

My Hooker system that came with off road pipe, had to have the intermediate pipes shortened(Hooker said they were extra long to accommodate any ler), and tail pipes are long enough that they dump about four inches from the bumper using the included turndowns...

I have BBK shorty headers,Mustang (Fox) Pype's off road X-Pipe,custom made mid pipes,40 series Flowmasters, and 2 1/2 inch Mustanh mandrel bent tail pipes that were lengthened about 3 inches, then the tips which put the end of the tips about an inch (if that) past the bumper cover.

ok. My setup so far is a BBK swap headers shortie, Unknown x pipe from a SN-95 5.0L.

I just heard somewhere that the tail pipes stinger did were extended versions of SN-95 tail pipe. I probably heard wrong. So I guess I will stick with the fox stuff then.

Thanks for the help guys. Any more sugestions, just keep them commimg.
