Title: Cougar with a Tbird nose...
Post by: Watchdevil on January 08, 2010, 10:56:17 PM
I came across this tonight... strange find but the Turbo Coupe nose just doesn't flatter the Cougar body...

Heheh, that is certainly interesting... Squared off back and a rounded nose.

That header panel just needs the Thunderbird's bubble rear window to make it balance out.

ONLY on a 4 eyed car.The aero noses are a no-go.Car specific.

The aftermarket header panel, I always thought looked kinda plain ( no t-bird logo). And the fact that the hood and bumper alignment is way off does not help anything at all. Besides, no offense meant, but white usually doesn't compliment our cars very well.

Someone good with photo editing skills should take and make it jet black, with some snowflakes, and the t-bird emblem on the header panel.

I have an aftermarket header panel on my Sport.I like the factory piece with the Thunderbird emblem better, but,i got it for like $40.00 brand new.I can learn to cope.I installed a black tag with the Thunderbird logo on it to compensate for the lack of the emblem....which I like up front.I'm happy.

Like Vinnie, I have an aftermarket header on my car. Fit is like , then again, I primered it, rattlecan gloss back, and slapped it on. I coulda spent m ore time, got it aligned better, and I will in the spring.

The fact that I've driven the car maybe 15 miles in almost a year since I've brought it home makes the gaps seem pointless right now lol

I've got an emblem around here somewhere that I might put on it...maybe.

Swapping the aero fronts looks silly, the 4 eyes are better for that, since they are more similar, and thusly flow better on each car. Just my opinion.

That's "Thundercat" and was built around here. It was a V6 car that was as clean as I've ever seen when the builder started on it. I sold him the TC body parts and the TC rear end that's in it. He pulled the V6, put in a 302 with a paxton blower and it went pretty dang good. The last I heard, he traded it for a Fox Stang 4-eye vert and Thundercat was getting parted out. The original builder is really a nice guy and he used to be a member on here.

Are you sure thats who that was? I keep thinking he was under a different username. I know there is a build page somewhere on here!

My mistake, I meant Thundercat was the name of his car. I don't remember what his user name on here was.

My 87 in my sig had a smashed up cougar nose on it when I got it. It was promptly removed and the car sat with nothing on the front for awhile.

I was thinking it was Budderiggs car, but I pulled up his user profile, didn't look at all like the one in his sig, etc.

Maybe there's a time lapse between them..I dunno.

Only your car can pull that one off with your one of a kind grille.

I like it,but,I think it would look better if the header and/or grille matched the pointed shape of the front bumper cover a little more.Still a beautiful car though.

Now that actually works! Good looking car BTW! I also have to say the refined lines of the 87-88 Cougar make it look like the best of the later model Cougars.

I understand. Not to take away from your car,it is truly a beautiful car.No doubt about it.Great workmanship. My biggest gripe about mine is the aftermarket header panel. It doesn't have the same quality as the Ford part, but for the price,it was a done deal. The only thing better about the aftermarket panel is that it's a lot thicker and stronger. One day I'll swap it for the Ford piece, and I'll probably reinforce it before installing it.With your car,the Cougar, there's a lot of things like that I'd like to have been able to do to mine, but, funding and time were not there.I'm happy though.Especially considering how the old Bird started out when I got it.LOL.

I like the scopes on the Cowl hood, very nice.  Maybe I will look into that on mine?

Does anybody know if this would cause any problems with how the low pressure area works with a cowl hood?

Also another Cougar in the background, you don't see this very often?
