This from the Nationals Weather Service:
"DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION

CHILL VALUES OF 15 TO 25 BELOW ZERO WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD...
CREATING A POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING SITUATION FOR ANYONE
CAUGHT OUTDOORS AND UNPROTECTED FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES."
Bad thing is, I'll be out and about in it. It's a have to thing.
Bet your ass I'll be careful and considerate...I'm not ready to check out just yet :hick:
I'll see about rescheduling the appointments, but I don't know.
We've got 2 dr. visits on the same day (Thursday), one of which is an ultrasound...playing it by ear at this point...
   and Thanks for the early morning wakeup call , here is my way of staying warm friend. :flame:
I know those are not fun temps for you guys, but today is the first day in several that we have made it above zero and I have to tell you, single digits felt like summertime! Better check with HAVI too, I bet it's been a blast (pun intended) there.
Heck we've only been in the 60's all week.
I've been working in this all week! 8 hours in -15 to -30 degree windchills is pretty common place for me right now. Key thing to remember is LAYERS, and hand warmers help. I need a decent pair of boots since I am still wearing my mesh cross trainers and boy do my toes get cold!!
Pfft, we're getting a foot of snow tomorrow.....
I'll gladly take a goded foot of snow over 15 below zero.
When I got off work tonight, I didn't even bother brooming off the car, I just carried a piece of cardboard out with me and used it for a big blade and pushed the snow off...wish I'd taken some high topped boots...some of it got in my shoes.
We've got the better part of 5 inches here, but I'm gonna hate the wind tomorrow. Drifts everywhere I'm sure.
Yup, 60s here in Vegas too :)
you guys suck!!!!! :D:flip:
Well, the wind is gusting up to 40, there's a drift as tall as the tires on a truck I'm storing...it hasn't been this bad since '96 lol.
Yeah, what he said! It's actually been warmer in WI thus far in 2010 than down here in KS! Makes me want to move back! Right about now, I sure wish I hadn't sold my slowblower and brought it down here...shoveling 2' drifts in 15-20 mph winds @5^F isn't much fun
It sounds like most places are getting hit. Even the growers in FL are trying not to get frozen out. The problem with that is it means our fruit prices are going up, again....
This winter has been something, huh? Our temperatures up here are actually above normal, it's 30ish up here today, but we've been getting a lot more snow than usual. Good luck staying warm :p
Been in the 30's all week here, apparently warmer than Florida. Strange winter: I live in the center of a province nearly completely surrounded by Atlantic Ocean. Most storms that come off Cape Hatteras skim by the province and dump snow where I live but rain on the coast (40 miles away). This year has been the opposite: The coastal areas, especially the southern ones, have been getting hammered by snow while my area gets the rain (Yarmouth, on the southern tip of the province, got nearly 3 feet of snow out of the last storm while we got less than 3", and further north and east got 100% rain). Guess this flip-flop is not just local, what with the above freezing temps here and below freezing in Florida...
Cold, blowing and white outs today. Good thing I stayed home!
It was pretty bad out, my 4x4 truck struggled to get down my driveway. There were places where drifts are upwards of 4 feet deep, and getting worse by the hour. The wind is ferocious right now. All the schools and just about every activity around here has canceled for tomorrow...even my work...they're letting people call in, and not get a point or use a vacation day...do I wanna stay home today?:rollin:
I'll take some pics after daylight...I don't think it's been this bad here in any of my 32 years...although '96 came close.
