im looking at tires and would like to know what you guys think about
running goodyear triple treads 185-70 R 14? i have 205 70R 14 on now and am also considering dunlop sp60 205 70 R14, the ratings i saw on tire rack are excellent for both. i know the 185's are a bit skinnier then the 205's . im just not sure on how this would affect the ride of the car. thanks for any input! p.s i also forgot looking at cooper CS4 touring 195-75R14

The skinnier the tire, the less traction. You need traction for both starting AND stopping... and these are heavy cars.
Also, you should consider getting an alignment when you change the size of your tires. On my truck, I went from perfect, smooth steering, with 195/70R14's to shuddering during corners with 205/70R14's. Tires have been balanced, it's better than it was but not perfect.
Not in snow , a skinny tire is better.
Why not run the factory size (215/70R14) tire. It will ride and handle the best with the factory size tire being that it was engineered for that size. Plus your speedo will be right. If you have to drive in the snow you can get tires that are meant for that type of driving.
i do want to run the factory size, but there is very little to choose from in a 205/70r14.
i like the dunlops sp60 they are discontinued , but sears has them for $83 each not installed, installed it runs $420. they have the best ratings for wet and dry traction and also snow .... raings for an all season. also they are made in the united states, i dont want a tire from another country.
Dunlop have the noisiest tire on the market. I will never buy them again. (my opinion)
I installed Toyo Eclipse 205/70R14's on my bird, and let me tell you, it got real quiet on the highway. Pretty reasonable too, I believe installed they ran about $370.
Nevermind.

Mine has 215/70s I didnt notice that your car is a 84.
i wasnt aware dunlops were made here, pretty sure cooper tires still are though.
they arent cheap in that size and easy to find so i feel your pain.
