Title: Taillight Emblem Removal ?
Post by: ThunderInCali on January 03, 2010, 02:25:46 AM
Has anyone ever tried to remove the bird emblems from '87-'88 taillights ?  I would really like to give it a shot, but I don't want to wreck a good set of taillights.

Ive done it with the 87-88 Cougar taillites (ie the reverse light section).  Gently careful prying and lots of patience and they came out.

I've allways used scalpel. I think that 85/86 lights have the same bird emblem as 87/88, so if you are careful, it is good tool. Just be careful.

Those emblems are screwed in from behind- you will be left with 2 holes. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, man.  I was afraid they were going to be like stink on a monkey to get rid of.  Curse those Ford designers !  Whoever was in charge of Thunderbird emblems in the Fox years went a little overboard.  Meanwhile, in the Mustang department, you couldn't find a horse emblem anywhere.  I guess I will just get out the satin black paintbrush and try to make them a little less noticeable.
