I have an 86 Thunderbird with the 5.0L V8. I bought it to practice body work on in school. It needs alot of work.(brakes alternator, tranny) A guy is selling an 85 V6 Tbird near me that needs a tranny. Is it hard to swap a V8 into that V6 bird?:mullet:

imagine this...........
take many pics of your 5.0 engine setup
take pics of your v6 engine setup
find good aod trans ( really dirty oily ones usually are the best)
pull 6cly motor / trans
mate v8 to new trans
pull v8 computer and entire harness
install motor / computer and harness
swap in battery tray and all the stuff that was in the original V8 car.
no the above was not a step by step but overall, thats about what it takes.
It is just as easy as jcassity said. If you have both cars and your donor car has an intact harness just swap the entire harness over. I swapped a turbo 2.3 in place of my efi 5.0 by doing this and had no issues.
thanx guys. I really want an 87-88 Cougar Xr7. So I just might paint the Tbird like a 1990 THunderbird Anniversary edition and sell it
You'll never be truly satisfied till you get what you want. Buy the Cougar you want.

He's a member on here as well. He goes by the screen name DamonSlowpokeBaumann on here. FWIW -- he knows his stuff and when he does mods to a car he ensures they are done correctly. Maybe you guys can do some business. Hope this helps ;)
