Title: the gold 20th coug grille
Post by: jcassity on December 12, 2009, 11:56:58 PM
the gold 20th grille must have came only with leather 20th interior...just an assumption.  Not thinking leather was an option as to include all Erics info about them.  No leather package mentioned but odd things can happen.

No 20th badge on the trunk lid
seems there is no 20th cpillar emblem either.
center molding appears to be gold
wheels are'nt exactly right either
Im thinking this might be a knock off of a 20th ,, good one though.

anyone else know of door panels with 20th on them?

no keyless entry though

Read up on the night cat edition.

I guessing either someone was restoring it using 20th parts, or it might be some weird dealer option. Does it have the memory seats?

Looks like a legit 20th Anny to me. Especially with the memory seat switch on the door panel. To eliminate any doubt you could request a picture of the buck tag.
My knee-jerk reaction is that the the current or a previous owner had the interior re-done in leather but replicated the look of the original in terms of the style and had the stiching on the door panels added at the same time.

That's a nice looking car...I like the way they did the interior a lot!  The steering wheel cover is kinda cheesy though.

Good looking car.  Must have swapped the C pillar emblems too.

Did the anny cars have the lights in backseat trim panels?

The same tag below the clock should also be on the right side of the trunk lid.

The wheels appear to be brushed aluminum while the center caps are gold.  The rims may be faded but were factory gold.

Again, very nice car.  The buck tag will specify what assembly line and number the car was.  Mine is #0233 of x amount made.

Yes there was a 20th Anniversary emblem behind the rear window, someone stole the eblems and when I got the interior redone in the leather they gold plated another emblem because they could not find the original ones.

All Factory 20ths had a "20th Anniv" emblem just to the rear of the back windows,, I think yours has a cougar there,,correct?

It is Actually a Factory 20th Anniversary Edition, not a creation of my own, I have all the paperwork for the car.  I'm not a car freak and I probably just missed the plate I will check it again and get back to you

Hi there Carl
It is a small 2'' x 3'' (approx) tag that is riveted to the front top frame of the car (aka - top radiator support) which is the same frame that the hood hinge is mounted to.  The BUCK tag is usually located to the left of the good latch piece.

So,, this isn't actually a factory 20th but a fine creation of your own?  Very nice car indeed , the perfect interior to say the least.

The car does not have the original interior, I have had everything done with tan leather with burgandy piping.  There is no plate on the top of the radiator support unless I just don't see it.  I have had the car since 1987.  There is 2 black arms on the top of the radiator but there is no plate attached to either one and I have never noticed that.  If I'm looking in the wrong place let me know what else to look and I will be more than happy to look and get them for you.

Thanks,
Carl

buck tag is something that the guy is trying to locate.

the 2Oth emblems on the Cpillars makes me wonder though.
there is no tag on the trunk lide either.  There is one up on the dash though.

the wheels being silver,,with gold centers.....I still say its a nice car be no sense in buying it thinking it is when it turns out its a mocked up 20th.

I thought I would bring this to everyones attention...not one of us has seen leather interior on a 20th nor was the cougar emblem in the seat covers.

seems to be an odd layout,,however ifi it did start life as a 20th, it would make a nice one of a kind however modified it is.  In the long run it will not be a true example of what ford engineered.

Scott--

Re-read your transcript "It is actually a factory 20th anniversary NOT a creation of my own" ;)

Since I first looked at the pics I have thought this and I still do believe it...those are definitely gold turbines. From the right angle, yes they do tend to look silver. The outer edge, the "thickness" of each vane of the wheel is not painted gold, instead left bare metal and clearcoated over. The other surfaces are however, and looking closely, to me anyway it is clearly gold as should be.

My signature picture illustrates this. From that angle, with a lot of light, it's obvious. But check out an old signature : http://s129.photobucket.com/albums/p205/paulcougar50/Cougar/?action=view¤t=Cougsig.jpg they really dont look very *gold*.

Good call Scott. The first letter is the trim style and "T" was not a standard trim code used for LS's in '87. Normally it would be a "K", "D", or an "L".

The second letter in the code is the interior color, in this case "Y" designates Sand Beige which as you know was the the interior color used on the 20th's.

So yeah, if it has a "TY" code like yours that should get you the answer you are looking for.

That car has been on auto trader for awhile.  Personally i think his asking price is a bit high.

yeah,, but g#$ daymn!!!!  thats nice!

emailed seller again today explaining im not rubber necking and am really interested in the car.  I asked if he would provide me with the interior code so we will see.

I also would like the price to be lower but im always one to not haggle.  If someone has a price, I try to be accomadating to the price.  Even on parts, if someone took time to fetch something out of a bone yard for me, that time and time is money.
