Title: Pros/Cons of Running 225 50R16?
Post by: Sancho on December 10, 2009, 03:30:40 PM
Got a set of new tires in 225-50R16, the stock TC wheel is 225-60R16.  Aside from the speedo being off, is there anything that I should be concerned about running this tire set?  its a 1.7" difference in tire height which will lower the car some more.

Bigger fender gaps, bit harsher ride. It'll look goofy. It wont look lowered.

A better idea is a 245/50-16. Gives it a little more sidewall but still lower profile because of the wider tread. Also closer to stock height.

Its already on a 1" drop, who knows I suppose.  The tires were free and I need them badly to replace my dry rotted ones from the car sitting the past two years.  Im not too worried about the harsher ride, its not a daily driver anymore.

I run 225/55/16s on Snowflakes. Works fine for me.

I'm running 225-50/16's on snowflakes, and with a stock ride height, the tire to body gaps are a little larger than I'd like.  I really need to get around to installing the 95GT springs I bought. I really like the way they ride and stick in the corners.
