I picked this up a few weeks ago and have done some work on it.
3:27 gears,trac-lock and 4 lug.
before and after pics
Looks really good man. Congrats!
Thats a nice job you have done there. Deem I´m jealous
What kind of paint did you use? that has good texture.
Niiiice !!! That's the diff cover I was wanting until I got the Shelby lid. You did a great job cleaning it up.I got mine a couple of weeks ago,and need time to finish it.When are you installing it? I install the rear without axles or brakes (I leave the brakes unbolted from the differential, and hanging from the chassis),then bolt the rear in,bolt the brakes on,install the axles and cover. No brake bleeding (I hate that). Now,if I can just get my quads to work on the car again (tires too wide).Pics when you install it.
the diff. cover is natural, axle housing is rustoleum flat black and the dust covers are rustoleum hammer finish.
I will install it in the spring (need warm weather),I still have some work to do (bend new brake lines, move the flexable break line to the passenger side and new bushings).I am going to deal with my quad shocks, after the rear end is installed.
that diff. cover is a Summit brand.I milled of the summit name and drilled and tapped two 10-32 holes to mount a plate with the FORD name on it.I will also make a Thunderbird plate for it,so I can change them if I want.
I aslo wnat to make up a 3rd brake light/stop light, that I could mount on there, that will also have the FORD name on it.
Are you using quads too?
Looks great!! Now I suppose you'll jack the back end of your car way up so every one behind you can read your differential cover. lol.
ooops. I was typing while you were posting that. lol
Alright,I need a better pic of the cover,and.....a third brake light? On the diff?I'm intrigued.I can't even se my diff cover standing behind the car.I need more input. It sounds like a cool idea.Different (I'm not going to steal the idea.LOL).As far as the quads,I'll also deal with them after the diff. is in.I'm hoping,at the most,I just need some thin spacers (5mm or maybe 7mm).No need for me to think much about it.I can't do anything until the other work is finished anyway.Again, pics of the cover and the plates.
Looks great :D
Are you keeping the drums on the rear?
yep,I just need the frame brackets.
don't bother to jack it up to see anything under there. All you get is a great view of the gas tank. see..... :D

someone was just selling some I think.
If I have to jack it up,to see it,I wont put it on.
I will most likely mount it towards the bottom of the rear end.I have this image in my head what i am going to do,but its hard to explain.
yes
when I bought this car,I never planned on doing this much to it,money wise and mod wise.I was going to slap some nice wheels and tires on it,new paint and that was it,it has now become a sickness I have :D .............I am sure you can all relate.
I am going to cut the FORD plate monday or tuesday and I will post some pics.
yep,you dont see much of the cover at all...............lol.
what I would like to do is(if I can explain this correctly)when you put the brake on,the image will shine onto the road, beneathe the cover.
ya they did,but they fit a mustang not a thunderbird.the T-bird brackets mount on the bottom of the frame rail and mustangs on the sides.
I'll keep my eyes open. I got mine already.
I'll be watching too.
Nice job on the rear! That light sound like a neat idea.
That rear looks great. Need to get mine looking nice.
hum next time im in MD ill check the ones on my parts bird. they might not be rotted off haha
ok, I made the Ford plaque for the rear end and I have to say,it didnt "WOW" me or make me tingle.I think maybe if I would have chose a diff. font,it mite appeal to me better.anyway, these are the pics.
2 more
A different font may be better, but it "wows" me the way it is. Nice job!
It may not be the way you want it,but,it looks great, and,it's an easy fix.Not like you etched it into the cover itself.
I think it looks good.
