Title: my dads 84 t/c
Post by: croga001 on December 01, 2009, 03:44:07 PM
we saved this one from a guy down near chicago.  its even cleaner than mine.  theres no motor or trans, but that was the reason he got it.  I have the motor and trans out of my 86 that will go in there.  yesterday i put the 10 holes and turbo hood on it and the rest of the stuff the guy took off before he was going to rattle bomb it.
anyways heres some pics and a link to  the rest.
updates should come often as my dad has more money to put into his than i have to put into mine lol.

It's good to see you found a decent one much closer to you.  Chicago is a whole lot closer than California.

thanks, yeah i was suprised when he told me we were going to go look at one.  i thought he was going to give it a rest for awhile but i guess not, atleast it will keep his mind occupied.  it should be a super nice car when he (or me) gets done with it.

I'm thinking of just keeping mine and doing a cosmetic restoration.  Of course the heater core, radio and A/C will need attention too.  I'm not afraid of heater cores anymore since I did the one in my 82 Cougar wagon.  I'm seriously considering keeping the 14" polycast wheels too.  Hardly anybody has them any more.

Out here the problem is that the junk yards crush them as soon as they get them.  Interior and body bits are hard to come by.

This forum is inspiring.

yeah. there are quite afew of these cars up here but finding one worth fixing up is hard.  im sure many people would have just crushed the car we just bought because it needs paint and has no motor and trans.  but to see people build ones that start off in worse shape than ours is inspiring.

Are you sure it's an 84?
84 Birds don't have feathers.
What is the VIN?

the c pillar ones are correct, but the rear tailights are not. someone must have switched them out.

That would be "colvindesigns" old car.  It's an '84

I thought about picking it up, but was looking for something a little more complete, even if it didn't run.

yeah will do.  the taillights were not on the car when we got it and the bumper had a tear in it.  since my car is going to be awhile i decided to put my bumper on it.  the guy i bought the car from in chicage has a 88 or 87 too, he is thinking about parting it out again.  i think his name was brian.  i should have asked if he was a member here.  i want his fender if he parts that other car out.

interior is good, but we need some red non-power seats for it.  it even has a sunroof haha.  ither than that get a motor and trans, then other small things and she is good.  its getting painted for supples too so i cant argue with that.
