1. Is there a way to get my quads to work with 10 inch rear wheels? They were rubbing the tire and I don't want spacers.
2. I am removing the axles in the replacement differential. One axle was easy to get the "C" clip out of....the other, that "S" spring is blocking the clip (I've never had that problem before),how do I remove the "S" spring and reinstall it?
1. have no clue
2. it is impossible for the spring to be in the way. you need to try to rotate the c-clip to where you can grab it with needle nose pliers or an antenna magnet.
I was using a magnet, and the axle won't push in any further.I even gave it a smack with a hammer.I'll try again tomorrow. It seemed like an odd problem.I have swapped axles many times in a lot of these differentials without issue, then this. It's new to me to have this problem.I'll see what I can get done after work tomorrow and post my findings.......or lack there of.
O.K.,I got a c-clamp and pushed the axe in a little bit and out came the c-clip.Good to go.
If you're installing real control arms without stupidly large and soft bushings in them, you will have no need for the quads.
That's good to know, because as the Sport is right now, wheel hop is friggin' insane.
I had the same problem when I tried to pull the passenger side axle on my T-bird because it was
bent. It was a PITA. The replacement axle solved my vibration problem over 65 mph;)
I'm using the axles that came with this replacement differential.I can't wait for my control arms to get here !!!!!
Vinnie-I flipped them on my old car. I had 285/40 17 and it was real close but never touched. Like said before you really don't need them once you get your new control arms.
I hope you're right.I'll try flipping them.My new control arms should be here next week.He said they were supposed to ship out tomorrow. Now,to find a cheap 8.8 differential girdle.......cheap.
