Is there a difference in injector size, bore diameter between an 85' Thunderbird S.O. 5.0 and a 84' Mark with the 5.0.?
Does anybody know the HP for a stock 84' Mark 5.0?
Just wandering if the CFI is worth swapping. Thanks...
the bore's are slighly larger, and the injectors are larger
the only thing is, you may have to lower the fuel pressure slightly so you dont run overly rich
That's good news to hear, but the injectors colors are yellow and black on both. Aren't the injector sizes designated by color? Can the body be stripped and then painted to freshen it up some? Thanks...
Unless the Mark VII is a LSC I'm 99% sure it gonna have the SO... My info lists the SO CFI 5.0 as having blue injectors rated at 46 lb hr, while the HO used grey injectors rated at 52 lb. This listing only goes to '86, and does not have any yellow injectors so I don't have a clue what those are. Prob aftermarket...
well then tom explane green to me because i have a 84 cougar with the cfi 5.0 in it. so what would green top injectors be?
The green injectors are listed as being for the '84-'86 3.8 CFI, and are 37 lb...
fromwhat ive heard, there are 2 dofferent green tops
Yup early Turbo Coupes, SVO Stangs, and XR4Ti had a 30 lb green top inj.
People, This is good info. The colors I gave were yellow and black. (Sorry, I'm a Newbie) Thats the electrical connector to the injectors. The injector colors are Dark Green (time may have faded the color from blue) on the 85' Bird and Light Green on the Mark.
Tom or Eric, So the Green injectors are 37lbs. The Blue injectors are 46lbs. The Grey injectors are 52 lbs. It doesn't matter if there a V6 or V8 CFI, right? As stated above, I do have 2 CFI unit. One with DG color and one with LG color. More info please on the two colors of green. Thanks...
well im taking it as i have the so motor so now im thinkin over the winter is stroking out my 5.0 to a 347 cfi now is it possibul for a cfi to handle it or no? and what does this intale?
The '85 5.0 ECU doesn't have adaptive learning. Adding a 10% bigger injector will cause the car to run 10% leaner OL/WOT. Shawn is correct, you will have to lower the FP to run bigger injectors. The larger bore might give you a little power. A bit more airflow, but learner too. It'd be nice to swap in an adaptive 5.0 CFI Tbird computer, but they don't exist. Unless somebody makes a chip to modify CFI ECUs, you're SOL. This also goes for Cougar8775.
so basically you are saying i prolly gotta go witha carbed set up if im gonna stroke it out. or possibly sefi.
well then what can i do to a cfi system to give it a little more kick in the seat?
you can do small things, the biggest being headers back exhaust
