Title: Coolant dripping out of AC drain.
Post by: 88CougarGT on November 15, 2009, 10:41:15 PM
While driving the Cat around today, noticed a small coolant pool under the car after parking it at the store.  Opened the hood and it appears to be coming out of the AC firewall drain.  All the firewall connections to the Heater core appear to be tight with no leaks.

Bad heater core?

Yup.  Just happened to me.  Same exact thing on my 85.

Sorry, man.  I feel your pain.

My bird started leaking from there when I swapped out the v6 to the v8. It was the heater core, I must have pulled to hard when removing the lines. It wasn't that bad of a job, a little time consuming though. Buy a good heater core, don't get a cheap one or you'll find yourself redoing the procedure sooner than you would want.

Read the coolcats how-to and don't rush.  It's really easy as long as you don't stress out over it.  I was done in about 3 hours working at a casual pace.

DOH!  I just swapped my built 302 in, and guess what was left attached when I started pulling the engine?  The core Return!  I didn't get very high before I realized it so I thought it was OK.  I must have killed the core.  !#@&($!TY)@#$T&  This car is starting to tick me off.
