After seeing how close to home it is this coming year...I am going to the 2010 Hot Rod Power Tour! We will be going from Springfield, IL to Bowling Green, KY in the T-bird. Therefore I will need to do a few things to get her "tour worthy". Upcoming changes for this winter include:
1.) upgrade to 155lph BBK fuel pump...the stocker was giving me fits all summer after the HO upgrade. (Have it ordered)
2.) I am going to ditch my CHE adjustable LCA's and Steeda springs. The Steeda springs ride horribly and will be replaced with either stock TC springs or ??? The LCA's raise ride height about 1'' from stock so I am thinking if I go back to stock LCA's and different springs it shouldn't sit too high. Any thoughts on this guys? newer Mustang springs a better option?
3.) I need to get my driveshaft balanced...
4.) Dash cap...where would you guys recommend ordering from based on your experieces? Dashtops.com?
Those are the "must do's"...the "wish list" would be: redrill axles and rotors for 5 lug and go with 17x8 chrome bullitts, get my seats redone, new cd player, retint windows....the list goes on and on!
I'm glad to see a Fox Bird going on the Tour :D I want to do the same when I get mine completed. Take plenty of pics :beatyoass: lol I wish I was closer,,,, I'd lend a hand getting your car ready :hick:
Hey didn't realize you were in Indiana too. But you
are pretty far from me!! This will be tour #3 for me...but 1st time in the 'bird. I hope it makes the trip!
I'll keep fingers, toes, eyes, and whatever else will cross when your making the journey. I moved to Indiana last part of July/1st part of Aug. Love it where I'm at. Nice and quiet :D
Is it pretty expensive to run the tour?? I'll start saving my change lol :mullet:
I paid around $70 to preregister. Then you have hotel rooms (I usually spend around $80/night), food, gas, etc. For three days I would guess total cost would be $500-$600 on the whole trip...
I've never been able to afford more than a leg, but if you're able it's definitely worth it. There's always a group of Mk VIIs that go so I'm sure they'd welcome a Thunderbird to the group.
I always wanted to get my 'bird on the tour. It was always either apart, not capable of making it or just bad timing.
Hell you should take your Mustang...I've taken my '07 two years. I was afraid people would look down on me for driving a newer car but everyone is cool. there are actually a lot of late models there...there are tons of new Camaros, Mustang, Challengers, and Vettes.
However I am excited to take the 'bird. I've only seen one fox T-bird/Cougar on tour! It will be nice to have something different from everyone else.
amen to that, i have seen the power tour come trough my town 3 years and have never seen a fox tbird or cat. would love to see one. mine wont be anywhere near ready for the trip, but id love to see a few of them!
That's less than I had figured it would be. I really want to get my car finished for the 2011 tour, providing they have one. So I guess I had better get off my :shakeass: and get busy :welder:
Here's a pic of the engine mostly painted, Still have to clean/paint the intake and cam covers. Sorry that the pic is rather large,
Making the tour in the Mustang would be ok, but would much rather do it in a 'bird. Maybe I should just do it in the Mustang so I can say I did it. The tour is on my "bucket list" , so hopefully someday.
God those motors look HUGE. It looks great, but will look even better in the car:bowdown:. I wish we were closer I would stop by and check in on ya!
It was on my list too. I figured I would do it one year and call it good...but its so addictive!! I don't want to miss it!
It would be nice to meet ya. Someday we'll meet up. :D Yep they do look huge
