Title: Very depressing day at the boneyards
Post by: 32VFoxBird on October 22, 2009, 10:02:39 PM
me and a freind went to both pick-a-parts in Houston today, and found several good cars there marked "clunkers". lemme bring you up to speed. these cars have the motors drained of oil, and replaced with "liquid glass". they're ran until the motor seizes up. and there a few 351w roller engines, and many gt40(p) heads out there. all could not be touched, because motors with paint marks could not be sold or parted out.

OTOH, we did score one explorer intake, a fuel pump connector, distributor condom, a car seat( yes, an infant car seat), some black interior trim for a coupe, and a "pocketful" of relays and fuses.

They can't even sell injectors or headers off of a c4c engine?

At our pull-a-part they sold anything you took off the C4C cars, even if the part from the engine had the spray paint all over it.
They just couldn't sell the engine as a whole.

Couldn't you just pull the parts you want and keep a little piece of sandpaper in your pocket and remove the spraypaint? heh...

Can you still buy the Explorer rear ends?

OK.  The argument on another board was that any C4C vehicle couldn't have the driveline parted out.  Just making sure.

at these 2 yards you couldn't buy any motor parts. others will most likely have different guidelines. I guess that depends on how hurt they are for money.

Why are people still so confused about the C4C thing?
