i was thinking about puting a digital fule gage in my car and i was looking at summitracing and seen that they have some diff ones that have diff omhs for being full and empty. id like to know what one to go with if any one has put one in their car.
dose no one understand what im saying. i dont know how to say it any better but i can try if someone can help me.
To change from an buttstuffog to a digital fuel gauge you have to change the sending unit in the tank. Otherwise your gauge will work backwards.
buttstuffog sender- 60 to 86 ohms empty--8 to 12 ohms full.
Digital sender- 9 to 12 ohms empty--154 to 161 ohms full.
i want to put an aftermarket one in tho. dose that make any diff.
the autometer ones say they are programable, 0 ohm empty, 280ohm full, id say either you'd need the stock didgital one, or call up summit and see if the electronic sender is with the gauge *usually is*
i have a sending unit for the digatil gage. the car im taking every thing from has the full digatil cluster. i dont dont want to repine the dash and all that to just get a digatil fule gage
If memory serves me right you need one that reads 73 ohms empty / 10 ohms full with the factory sender.
ok so i i go with a digital one thats programmable do i need to use the sending unit for the digital dash?
If your dead set on using a programmable unit then as long as you have a working sending unit already in the fuel tank leave it. The programmable fuel gauge (autometer unit anyway) can be adjusted between 0 and 270 ohms. I used buttstuffog gauges (especially fuel) because of the cost savings.
im not bead set on a programmable one just dead set on a digital one and the programmable on im looking is autometer and its 80bucks
