Title: Its Dead
Post by: turbocoupetgill on October 13, 2009, 11:45:46 PM
So i was driving down the freeway doin 60 and all the sudden it starts running rough and has a loud clicking from what sounds like the trans. next thing i know it has white smoke or steam from under the hood and then it died. I let it sit and looked under the hood and it was steaming out the overflow tank. I let it sit and it started and drove but if i gave it any gas it made this horrible clicking noise. I got it home but barely as it died right on my hill. Started up this morning and it ran but it was kinda rough. all in all pretty sh***y.:confused: If any one has any ideas on anything that i could do or what is needed to fix it I would appreciate it alot. thanks a lot

Sorry to tell you, but it sounds to me like your head gasket ped the bed.  That, or you have a cracked head.

Sad thing is...I have a decent 2.3t head off my '88 here, that I have NO use for... shame you're in Washington state...I'd give it to you. In fact, if you are willing to pay shipping, I'll still give it to you.

It needs some cleaning up, and maybe the cam isn't any good (rusty)...if you are interested, I'll take some good pics for you.

Thanks FordTruckFreek. Well im gonna take it into the shop to get it checked out. IF the head is cracked I will definately be interested if thats the case. the only good thing ive gotten out of this situation is that it gives me a reason to port the head and put boport cam and valve train in it ;-). Ive decided that i love having this car to much to get rid of  it.
